From the way the vmf works I don't think they even know what a dipstick is they'd better get a contractor to find it.

I give bumper-to-bumper service. Can I check your oil? Your dip stick shows a quart low.

west coaster it never has been my experience that any employee slows down so the work will be contracted out. That would not be very smart. People are just people no matter where they are some take advantage some just come in and do their work.

82% retired that even makes sense but now it seems like the vmf mechanics are purposely slowing down so management contracts out the work and Probably they file on it to get paid for doing nothing....

Here is/was the deal. Not sure if it still operates this way but back in the day it did. Mechanic gets a job assigned to him. He punches in the start mode. does his job. then punches in the finished mode. All the time in between gets charged to the finance number of the station the vehicle is assigned to. The owner of the finance number pays the VMF through it's budget for the number of hours and parts charged. Very complicated system. Can't get an estimate of the cost because no one know how long of a dump the mechanic is going to take while he is charging time to a particular vehicle.
