How are you Florida and Mexico friends faring after Irma and the earthquake that hit México so hard?

Wow- that sucks, but I'm glad to hear it wasn't worse. I recently watched a program about extreme storms on the Weather Channel, and one thing all the meteorologists agree on is that what they fear most is lightning. I wonder what your palm tree did to piss Mother Nature off.

Are you planning to come to the reunion in September? http://www.ahsclassof77reunion.net/class_index.cfm

Greetings everyone! It's been a while since I posted here. Thanks for all the condolences from my brother's passing. I miss him every day. Our house survived a lightning strike a couple of weeks ago. All the GFIs were tripped, my modem fried and the motherboard on my computer fired. I was able to get a new motherboard and bring it back to life. We also has a minor fire caused by this in our laundry room when the vent hose for the drier caught on fire. Lucky for us my wife was home and was able to put it out before it could spread. It took me a while to find the spot where the lightning stuck. It was one of my palm trees in the rear of the house. I have included a photo of this. The palm tree on the left used to look like the one on the right. Take care you all and I'll be hearing from you.

Mike and all: at this moment, due to a series of uncertainties, it's hard for me to be able to plan traveling far, so September in Mexico seems highly unlikely.

Franco, thanks for the heads up. I am the admin for this site and have deleted the offending message, blocked the originating IP address from further posts, and reported it as spam to Quicktopic. (I wonder how long that site will be up, considering how obviously illegal it appears to be.)

Any interest in attending the Class of 77 Reunion in September? Mark Maldonado and the organizing committee have put together an impressive schedule of events. http://www.ahsclassof77reunion.net/class_index.cfm

I can't do anything about the "Real Pharma" thing below. Is there a way to erase it anyone?

Mike, Jeff,
things are OK at my location; the quakes have been and are being hard, but very localized in the eastern slope of the Appennines at a latitude North of Rome. Latest tragedy was a snow avalanche triggered by a quake that swamped a mountain hotel, killing a good part of the guests. I live about a 6 hour drive away from that area, in the Emilia Romagna region, in the mountains South-West of Bologna (1 hour drive from Bologna).

Hello Franco Cimatti!
Glad to see you survived the recent earthquake intact. Now you have to get ready for the super-volcano. What part of Italy are you in? My wife will be spending the month of September traveling with a friend in central Italy.

Wow, I haven't checked in for quite a while. Looks like I need to update my email address- I used to get Tiendita email notifications at my work address, but that gig ended in July.

John, very sorry to hear about Jamie. I hope that your famil(ies) are able to find comfort in memories of good times with him.

Franco, I didn't realize the August earthquake was that close to you. What town do you live in? Glad to know that you are OK, and I'm terribly sorry that it killed so many people and turned a lot more people into homeless refugees, and that so many beautiful old buildings were destroyed. Subsequent quakes in October and just recently have probably only made things worse. I hope that Mother Nature will give you a break for a long time.

Imagine my surprise to have found the sticky note with the Tiendita address on it this morning. I have not been on this site for years and, after keying in the address, was delighted to see many of you still here!! Here's hoping you're each doing well and when I get the chance I'll backtrack on the site to see what I've missed!!
John, sending condolences on the passing of your brother.
Saludos to all from Colorado!!

so sorry to hear about Jamie. If I remember correctly, he was an impressive pianist.
Condolences to the family.

We survived the hurricane with little to no damage to our property and business. I do have some bad news though. My youngest brother Jamie passed away at the beginning of this month at the age of 53. We all are missing him very much.

Florida friends,
I wish you well thought the hurricane. I went thought a near miss in Miami in 1979 with David, and the feeling was nonetheless creepy.
Let us know how you are faring after it's gone

Hello Friends,
all is well in our area. It's a tragedy that looks like WW2 aerial bombings.
There had been an earthquake in our area 3 years ago, but nothing like this one.
Thanks for the concern and do pray for those who have been struck.
