Lyla grins. "You're right. I'll try my best. Thank you."

"If you're even a tenth of your old man, then you're amazing. Just strive to be better, and always look to improve. I know you have it in you."

"Probably. That's probably true, but it just... doesn't look like it anymore. I dunno. I guess my talent is all I have left now."

"Have some confidence in yourself now. There's plenty for you to do, a world of possibilities. You'll figure it out."

"I suppose so, yeah. Well. Even if I got out, I guess there isn't much to do for me other than keep doing what I've been doing so far... which is competitions... and that's it." She sighs.

“Whether the mastermind is or isn’t one of us, there should be evidence. I’ll find it.

"That makes sense... But I don't think the mastermind is one of us. Have you ever seen a horror movie? Yeah. The masterminds are always outside of the game. I don't think this is any different. It'd be too... obvious, if it were one of us. In fact, that's the first thing we thought of!"

I couldn’t call myself a Detective if I did. The only person I intend on killing is the mastermind, and I won’t do so until I’m absolutely certain of who he is.”

"I see! That sounds like a love story straight out of a movie!" Lyla chuckles. "That's good to know. But-- you can't actually be thinking of killing someone to get out, can you?"

“She completes me. She makes me smile. I make her laugh... not as much I used to hehe.” The conversation seems to be having a profound effect on Dallas. “She used to just be a client, and I found some trouble while helping her out. Still, it was a job well done and we kept in touch after. She even became my assistant eventually.”

She nods and then asks, "Why so? How'd you meet her?"

“If all goes well, she’s the person I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.”

"Hmm-hmm." She nods slowly. "Who's Sally? You keep mentioning her, but who actually is she?"

"There were always people having problems in my neighborhood. Stolen bicycle, someone ripping a page out of the library book, broken windows. Most of them were committed by the local neighborhood bully, but I still solved them all. All it took was a quarter and I'd follow any case through to end. I met Sally through one of the cases too." He looked nostalgic at the memory. "Anyway, after doing that for a few years, I came on as a consultant to the police for one of their murder cases and solved it. That's the only murder I've solved actually, but my resume was full enough for Hope's Peak to take me in."

She looks at Dallas and raises a finger. "Well, that's convenient. I wish I was gifted a firearm, but I've shot enough to make me happy. Anywho, anywho!" She grins. "Enough with that! How'd you discover your talent?"

"It was a gift from the academy." Dallas looked up in the air with some pain in his eyes. "A bit irresponsible I suppose but, they really felt like they owed me when I solved a murder that had been knocking at their door for a while, and they trusted me to use it right."
