For my book that I have to read I chose Jarhead by Anthony Swofford. I have read to page 25 and I stopped on the end of the chapter.

One major problem that my character is going through is that they cannot seem to find any action. Marines are known for being some of the best fighters in the world, so they are supposed to be fighting in battle. Right now where I am reading, all they are doing is just training on the base and just messing around with each other. They just had a football game for some news reporters to see and they had to run around in chemical warfare gear, which could get up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. They want to be out on the front lines fighting the fight, but instead they are goofing around. Their daily routine consists of drinking water, working out, and drinking water because they are in the desert which is a constant 100+ degrees.

I chose read Gitchie Girl its a book about a three killings in South Dakota. I have read to 13 and have stopped on a white page.

the book is about a small three brothers and sister that had to live with their grandmother because their mother couldn't support them. intro was in the first person of a police officer.

a major problem was a random family trying to take a quicker route found three dead bodies of what I'm suspecting to be the three kids. There was a lot of sceptasizm from the sheriff that was called to check it out. he thought that it was a apposing county police department that had been playing a trick on him. it was the sheriffs one day off and he has to find three kids killed in a ditch found from a family driving hime.

I chose the book Hiding to survive. I have read 34 pages of the book. The book has an introduction chapter then the chapters after that are different stories of different Jewish children that hid in Holocaust. The first story is about a girl that had lived with her moms friend even before the nazis came because she was poor. Well when the nazis came she lived with her moms friend and had to act Christian so she wouldn't get killed.

A major problem for her in the book is that she has to act a religion that she isn't and she isn't able to see her real family. Living with her moms friend becomes her family. Although it's hard she knows her mom is still alive because she left in time. What is keeping her alive is keeping her mouth shut and the Christians protecting her. She also gets a letter from her mom informing her that she is safe. I think that is a factor making her not want to give up.

I chose the book 'Lost in the Woods'. The book is 261 pages and I am at page 52. This book is the story of a Cary Griffiths father. He gets lost in the woods and can not escape.
Currently in my book Im at the point where he is in the woods and is trying to find a way to escape. The main character Dan Stephens, a 22-year-old canoeist, was leading a trip deep into Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park. He stepped into a gap by cedar trees to look at the wilderness and did not return. A couple hours later he woke up in the jungle with a big bump on his head. I cant wait to start reading again but for now this i all I know.

The book that I have chosen to read is Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson. This book contains 177 pages and the page that I am on right now is 70.
2. One of the major problems that happens is that ok stay with me right now it is Lincoln being killed by John Wilkes Booth. I know I know what your thinking how could this been averted. Well whoever is reading this it is easy Lincoln could have just not gone to the theater. One more thing that could have prevented this is while actually have someone protecting the president by just having someone at the door. There are so many more ways that this could have been prevented and this just some of ways that this could have been solved.

3. What you are reading is going to be made into a movie. In 5 sentences, talk about your main character(s) and tell what famous actor(s) will play each character and what about the character makes that actor the best choice for the part. Remember to use complete sentences.

4. This is a question about "constructing knowledge." What broad TOPIC is this book about? (the Holocaust, suicide, family relationships, young love, Vietnam, survival, adventure, etc.) What do you already know about this topic? What specifically have you LEARNED about this topic from your reading so far to build on to the knowledge you already have?

The book I chose was Devil at my Heels. I am currently on page 48, and have not read yet today. This book is about the life of Louis Zamperini. He has been through and done more then anyone, he has ran in the olympics and been a POW during WW2 When you talk about Louis Zamperini it is hard to chose one problem to talk about. As a child up to about his freshman year in high school he was on the verge of being put into jail, the only reason he wasn't was because his parents were good people. Louis was always getting in fights and pulling "pranks" on who ever was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. As he grew up some he grew passionate for running which saved him from going to jail. That is just his young life he has much worse problems on the way

Write TWO sentences that name your non-fiction book, the number of pages, and where you stopped today. (I chose.... I have read...) I picked out the book, Shaken by Tim Tebow. The book is 213 pages and I've read to 37 today. The book is about the football life and what it is like after being cut and finding new hopes for teams.

Write TWO sentences to SUPER BRIEFLY summarize who/what the book is about. The book is about Tim Tebow and he writes about the football has formed into his life and how faith guides him through this process. He finds out how he gets cut from a NFL team and then believes and leans on god to help him find a new team.

Then choose ONE of these options to respond to. Each calls for a MINIMUM of FIVE (5) COMPLETE sentences!

1. Create a timeline of events from what you have read SO far. Timeline must include 5 important plot events written in complete sentences.

2. Describe 1 major problem or challenge your main character has faced so far in the book and talk about how the character worked to solve it or is working to solve it. Answer in 5 sentences. So major problems or conflict in the book is that he gets cut from a team and he has to find his way to make it on another team. The New England Patriots cut Tim Tebow which they were arguably the best team in the NFL and he describes the feeling and what he has to do next. He takes a couple days off and goes to his hometown and visits some friends and family to talk about what happened. One of his main things in life that he always needs is his faith in God and his religion he believes that no matter what God will help him through this tough times. He eventually gets calls from teams and starts looking at new ways to find a team that can land a spot on him.

I chose the book 'Mistaken Identity'. The book is 261 pages and I am at page 101. This book is the story of a Taylor University van that was in a crash leaving 5 dead, and the identity of two girls switched. Both families write about how God helped them through this struggle.

Currently in my book either of the parents know that their daughters identity's have been switched. Both parents have relied on Faith to help them. The parents of Whitney keep saying it's like they're watching this from someone else's body. I couldn't imagine losing someone so close in my life and then being told that they're actually in the hospital, or vice versa being in the hospital with a loved one and then later being told they died in the crash. Fortunately, both families believe in God. They might not understand why God would take their daughter, but families from all around the world are sending prayers their way.

I am reading about the book called Riding in Cars With Boys. The book is 204 pages and I stopped at page 26 today. The book is about a Beverly Donofrio a Italian family raised girl in the 50s-60s era. Her dad being a cop made her rebellious hanging with hoods and friends making bad choices and adventures with boys.
The major problem in this book so far is Beverly doesn't get enough attention or love from her family, with her parents being conceiving and her mother always taking the dads side. This makes Beverly want to be out of the house more and get attention in ways she knows that are heading down the road badly. But she turns to drinking and smoking and losing her innocence with boys to cope with her family life. One night out drinking late at night her friend gets into a fender bender and her dad is the one who pulls them over. Beverly has an argument with her father that doesn't go anywhere and causes her to get more mad she can't find the true love or happiness because she feels so alone. Overall her reputation and motivation are the two main problems I hope she can overcome.

I choose the book, Angels on Call. The book is 261 pages and I stopped at page 261.
The book is about Dr. Robert Lesslie's experiences in the Emergency Department. He details the procedures and diagnosis' that he and his coworkers have to go through on a daily basis.

Thursday 7:05 am, Dr. Lesslie's son is shadowing him in the ER when a biker with a dislocated hip comes in; as the hip is pushed back into place the noise makes Jack throw up.
Tuesday 9:45 am, a patient comes into the ER having a repeated set of muscle spasms that cause a pain and screaming to emit form the patient; originally they thought he was faking it but Jimmy soon reveals that he took a couple Haldol pills and it was causing the patterned spasms.
Sunday 4:45 pm, the nursing home ambulance arrives at the hospital and on a stretcher is a little old man having CPR done on him by a very large women; both nursing home workers say. he isn't breathing and everyone soon gets to work trying to figure out why he wasn't breathing while nurse Liza Sue was still on top doing CPR. The man is finally able to get some words out to tell the doctor to get the women off of him; turns out he had only stopped breathing because after having fallen he was resting on the floor to catch his breath for a minute but Liza Sue assumed he wasn't breathing and had started doing CPR when he didn't need it. He had some cracked ribs, bruises, and a request to be moved to a new nursing home to get away from Liza Sue.

I chose to read the non-fiction book, Angel in the Rubble written about Genelle Guzman-McMillan. It is 225 pages long and I have read 71 pages of it. This book is about the rescue of Genelle after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It takes you through the twenty-seven hours that she was trapped beneath 110 stories of the North Tower. The biggest problem in this book is her being trapped under concrete and steel beams for 27 hours. Her left arm and leg were trapped between two slabs of concrete. Genelle believes that this is God's way of punishing her for drifting away from her faith and leaving her daughter in Trinidad so that she can pursue her dream of becoming a singer and dancer in America. She wants to give up because she believes that no one is looking for her. But she decides to reconnect with her faith and beg for forgiveness.

I chose the book Driven by Donald Driver. The book has around 262 to 270 pages and I had stopped at page 63. This book is about the star football wide receiver for the GreenBay Packers. It talks about his hard life growing up selling drugs and stealing cars. It shows you his life before the NFL. Donald Driver has a lot of problems in his early teens and one of the biggest ones would be the fact he likes to steal cars and do drugs as a "Job" in his broken down community in Houston, Texas. Growing up with only his mother and and little to none father figure in his life he had to deal drugs to help relieve his mothers back from her 5 jobs she had at the time. He stole cars for quick cash. After he got his life back and he is on a good path with his grandparents he had gotten into a High School from around the area where his brother was going. Since he had always grew up with his brother and went through tough times together he had always dreamed about doing whatever his "Good" brother did. Once his brother joined the team Donald Driver did and being a football star he had got away from drugs and focused more on sports and academics.

I chose the book, Gitchie Girl. The book is 152 pages in length and I am currently on page 30.
The book is about how five friends are camping in a national Forrest and it become one of the best well know mass murders. This happens in 1994 and the one survivor's life is still not the same.

The only major thing that my book is about is I would have to say survival. Throughout the book, these five friends end up trying to fight for their lives in a National Forrest. They all try to survive but at the end of the book there is only one survivor, this shows that she had the best skills to stay alive. It also says how they had only enough food for a couple of nights so these five students had to share their food so they could all eat. The overall major topic of this book is survival and how they have to fight for their lives.
