"Yeah, you could put it that way." He gives a half-laugh. "I was with someone for a pretty long while, but we had to split because of my work. I'm willing to suffer that fate, either way."

He changes his sitting position into a more relaxed one. "Have you ever heard of what the deal is with people who have some... err, disabilities? Like, and it might be hard for you to picture this, but say someone lost both their legs in some twisted accident. And they were an athlete. Their dreams and career is over. But in a few years down the line, they're able to still smile? Able to tell a joke and laugh with their friends, and say they're happy?" Bennett pauses for a second, but continues without waiting for a reply. "I'm pretty sure that happens because our weird brains," He points directly to his forehead with his left hand. "These fuckin' things, need us to be happy. So they make it so we're able to adjust to whatever our situation is given enough time, until it's our 'normal' state. So when good things happen that shouldn't normally outweigh losing your legs, since not having legs is your new 'normal,' these smaller things still make someone happy."

"I think I'm ramblin' here, but if I had to guess I'd think I'm in a bit of a similar situation, if I'm being completely honest with ya."

"Alone? It is not good to be alone, Mister Rodarte." Lavender says bluntly. "Companionship is an essential part of living, and it is simply unhealthy and detrimental to live on your own." The ballerina states with conviction. "Are you unable to find companions who perhaps share the same profession or interests as you?"

"Heh, I'm sure it'd be impressive." Bennett smiles.

"Back home, well, there used to be my grandfather, and on and off I'd have some girl to go back to, but right now I'm all on my own. But I usually prefer it that way."

"But you've got a huge audience waiting for ya. Can only imagine what it might feel like to let them down somehow."

"Suave cavemen dancing moves...? I do not believe the cavemen would be considered suave. However, perhaps I could perform some sort of interpretative dance about our journey once we are done. My audience would love it, I'm sure." Lavender smiles. "What about you? What kind of people are waiting for your return in Rattlewater?"

Bennett chuckles. "You're sure right about that. Surprised some of this lot can even be called a Star Citizen. Makes me sick that some of them can even hold such a title..." Bennett's usually playful tone takes a sudden nosedive, the disgust he feels for some of the people in the group would be very obvious to anyone who happened to hear him. Perhaps the Automaton would be able to put two and two together.

"But, enough about those losers." He smiles, again doing a complete 180. "Artistic inspiration, huh? Gonna do some suave caveman dancemoves?"

"Well, I suppose this journey could perhaps serve as a some sort of...artistic inspiration for me, perhaps." Lavender explains. "At least we have a colorful cast of people with us, no? Although, I think some of them might be a tad...difficult, for lack of better words."

“Eh, not particularly.” Bennett shrugs.

“Sure caves are cool and all but there’s a lot I’d much rather be doing than going in these creepy caves. What about you? Bet someone like you has tons to do out of this cave.”

"Born like me...?" Lavender pauses. "No, I do not think there are any advantages to my existence you would wish for. We are different, but that is alright."

The ballerina looks up, momentarily lost in thought before speaking up again. "Are you excited to embark on this journey?"

"Guess it'd be hard to explain, huh?" Bennett lets out a bit of a half chuckle. "Computer-like, huh? Yeah, I guess that's one way to put it. As far as I can tell, anyways. I ain't a believer of that supernatural junk either."

Then, he flexes his left arm. "You bet I do! Happy to be born healthy and proper. Not everyone's as lucky. And I guess, I should be happy I'm born human. Though there's a few advantages to being born like you, I think... I dunno if I'd want 'em."

After hearing Bennett's questions, Lavender looks down momentarily, a somewhat somber look in her eyes. "Well. I can only answer that by saying it is...complicated. I do not believe many people would understand the life I am living."

The ballerina continues. "But upon reflection, are humans not a form of computer as well? Every human is built with their own genetic code, with various organs programmed to perform various tasks. The human body is quite a marvellous system capable of so much. At the risk of sounding odd, you should cherish the body you have, Mister Rodarte."

"Yeah, I wouldn't really call myself 'evil,' but that might just be bias, I dunno."

"Ya got a point there too... I don't think it'll happen anytime soon to me, but it might happen to someone else. Someone with an easier job, like a mailman or something."

Bennett's eyes widen slightly when Lavender mentions how being human is special. "Guess it is, isn't it? Never really thought anything of it myself. Considering it's been the normal for me, I ain't got any clue what it's like to NOT be human. How do you feel 'bout that? Actually... How do you feel? Like, at all? Pain? Emotions? Is it just some complicated computer junk a guy like me wouldn't understand?"

"Ah, I see. So your profession does not involve evil? I hope not. There is far too much evil in the world."

"I would not worry about you losing your job to automatons or...robots, as you call us. I do not know of any existing automaton in the world, apart from me of course. Besides, there are many things humans can do that automatons cannot, you know? Being human is very special..."

"Well, It's not always the prettiest..." Bennett rubs the back of his head.

"I find lost items, for starters. Or missing people. Say your daughter, I dunno, ran off into a fucking cave, or some shit. You'd put a note up on my board, and I'd see if I'd take the job for the pay listed. Then I'd go find their daughter, and bring her back. Same would apply to like, a missing ring, or something. Or other kinds of weird odd jobs, though that's not really what a bounty hunter does, it's more of a thing I do."

"And then there's mark hunting. Catching criminals and turning them in. Catching criminals and taking them out. Or if the price is right, well... I guess they're not always criminals." Bennett remained calm while he spoke, almost more so than a few moments ago. He seemed to be used to discussing this sort of thing.

"Point being, if someone can hire a robot to find all their lost shit for me, for cheap and consistent results, I might be out of some clients. Same would go for huntin' criminals, though the police does a lotta that already."

"Well, what does the work of a bounty hunter consist of?" Lavender asks. "I must admit I am not too familiar with such a profession..."

"Oi, I'm sure some people would be happy saving a few bucks on a cheaper alternative to me." Bennett adjusts his goggles a little.

"'Sides, I make tons of people happy. I dunno what you're getting at saying it'd bring joy to nobody. And while Rattlewater ain't the most developed town I hear other busier cities are all about this more modern tech stuff."

"But...surely that would be immoral! I became Lavender Fae to bring joy to people, but creating a bounty hunter would bring joy to no one. We must not act as deities who may do as they wish and disregard the rules of ethics."
