I am currently reading My Life with the Walter Boys. The book has over 300 pages and I read to page 213.

The author of my book is Ali Novak. She is twenty-five years old and was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin. She married her high school sweetheart and has two kids.

My Life with the Walter Boys was Ali Novak’s first book. It became a hit almost instantly through Wattled, a social media like app where you can read and write stories.

The only thing the author needed to know was how to get her work out there to people. The book got over 150 million hits and at the time she was only 15 years old.

I would like to ask the author how her book became so known. I’d ask her how she got so many people on Wattled to read it. I’d also ask her how long she’d been interested in writing, how she felt when more and more people began reading her book, and how she managed to always keep writing.

I am reading the Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore. Pittacus Lore is a pen name used by three authors who wrote the series. They use the name Pittacus because he is the ruling elder of Lorien which is the planet that the good aliens come from in the book. James Frey is 47 and Jobie Hughes is 36. James Frey started the publishing company that publishes the series I am currently reading. They created Full Fathom Five to write your adult books. They wrote the entire series together which makes sense to me, because each character is so complex even if they aren't in for very long. Jodie Hughes has a business degree and a degree in creative writing. He himself has published 3 books 2 of them being New York Times Bestsellers. James Frey hasn't had many notable novels aside from the Lorien Legacies.

I am reading The Hear and The Fist, the book has about 320 pages in it and I am on page 189. The author of my book is Eric Greitens he is a former navy seal. He was born April 10th 1974 and is now 42 years old. The reason he wrote this book is because it saved his whole life. This Is not his only book I believe he has about three more. If I could meet the author in person I would ask him about a part of his training called Hell Week, its suppose to be the hardest part about trying to be a Navy Seal. It is a drill that runs for five straight days and no sleep. He was born in St. Louis Missouri and is running for governor, he has a wife and in 2014 of July Eric had his first kid.

I started reading Its All Your Fault by Paul Rudnick, I am on page 75 of the 294 pages all together.

The author of this book is Paul Rudnick. He was born on December 29, 1957 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He doesn't have any siblings but growing up his dad was a physicist and his mom was a publicist. He has wrote many books other than the one that I am reading now. Gorgeous was his first young adult/teen novel. It hasn't won any awards. The author would have to know what being a celebrity is like or something about being a celebrity. He would also have to know what its like at a book premier or a movie premier, but he obviously does because he has wrote plays and many books as well. I would want to ask him what gave him the idea for this book. I would also want to know if any of these events happened to him or anyone to close to him that made him want to write this book.

I am currently reading Dead In The Water by Chris Lynch. This book has 188 pages and I am currently on page 120. The author of my book is Chris Lynch. He is a very smart and skilled writer. Chris has written many book over the course of his writing career and he has even been awarded the Printz Honor Award for some of his book. Chris often teaches in the Creative Writing MFA program at Lesley University. He even spends a lot of time in Scotland where he gets a lot of his writing ideas. Dead in the water is not the first book that he has ever written. Chris lynch wrote many book before this book. Among those books was his Vietnam series which consisted of five books. But his writing did not stop there he has written many books and he has even won and been runner up for many awards including the National Book Award for Young People's Literature. To write the books that he does he would have to have a lot of background knowledge on history. He would also need to know how people acted in these different time periods. If I ever got to meet Chris lynch I would ask him what inspired him to write the books he writes. That and what book was his favorite to write and why he liked it so much.

I am reading the summer I turned pretty by Jenny Han and I am on page 63 out of 276 pages. Jenny Han the author has a masters degree in creative writing for children. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, and this is her second novel she works as a Bookseller and Liberian. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia; she studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I just really like her writing style she is very detailed and writes about things from a different perspective, I can tell the author likes romance because most of her stories and books are romance based. She would have to know about maybe what its like to be in a relationship and how to write that makes you have different feelings and these emotions that make you want to read more. If I could meet Jenny Han it would be at a cafe because she likes to write at cafes and I would ask her...
Did you have a summer where you felt pretty?

I finished reading The Creeping that was 387 pages.

Alexandria Sirowy is the author of The Creeping. She grew up in California but moved around during her life. She lives there now and has written two books.
The creeping was her first book to be published. She published her second book called The telling almost exactly a year later.
The author had to know how to create suspense and how to make a mystery. She also had to know a bit about police work so the story could fit together.
I would like to ask her what inspired her dark thoughts for this book and if she plans to make more like it in the future. I would ask why she became an author and how she get inspiration for her characters.

I am Reading Star Wars by Tom Angleberger. I am on page 244 of 412.
My author had to learn A LOT about star war to write this book. He had to because Star Wars his a very popular Movie Series and many people love these movies. And to this day the Star Wars series is still being made. My author had to learn about everything. He had to know all the characters in the movies. He had to know their names, how they looked, how they acted, what they were like in the past, and what they might be thinking of and what they might be feeling. He also had to learn wha exact words from the movies. He also had to learn about the places, how they looked, what happened at this place, who lives here and how do they act, and how is it connected to the story. He also had to learn the small but equally important things too like Droids and they were made for and how they worked, Ships and who they belonged to and their appearance, and Aliens and how they acted and how they looked and who they were fighting for and were the lived/came from. My author had to learn a lot about the Star Wars saga. And he must have done his studying right because he is doing a very good job and he has not messed up yet!

Im still and soon to be finishing Harry Potter and the half-blood prince. I read from 439 to 559 today. The author of my book is the famous J.K.Rowling. Her real name is Joanne Rowling, she was born in July 1965 at Yate General Hospital in England and grew up in Chepstow, Gwent where she went to Wyedean Comprehensive. She left for Exeter University, where she earned a French and Classics degree, her course including one year in Paris. As a postgraduate she moved to London and worked as a researcher at Amnesty International among other jobs. She started writing the Harry Potter series during a delayed Manchester to London King’s Cross train journey, and during the next five years, outlined the plots for each book and began writing the first novel. She married in October 1992 and gave birth to a daughter in 1993.

I am reading the book From A Name to A Number by Alter Wiener. I am on page 11 of 224.
Alter Wiener is my author. Alter grew up in the Nazi death camps with his family. His dad was murdered and the rest of his family died. When his dad got killed he was moved to a different death camp. He stayed in that one until it was over He's one of the few holocaust survivors out there. It doesn't really give much besides his life in the holocaust. He really didn't have to know much because it was a real story. This story really happened to him and his family. If I got to meet him I would ask him where he got his writing skills? I'd ask this because it doesn't tell much about where he went to school.

I'm reading Beyonders: Seeds of Rebellion. There's 483 pages in this book, and today I stopped on page 133.

The author of the Beyonders series is Brandon Mull. He's from Clayton, California, and he grew up wanting to be a writer. He was a bit hesitant to express that desire when he was young, though. These are not his first books, but he really likes writing for these ones. The Beyonders series had been in his mind for years, and they were the reason that he wanted to become an author. The author had to know how to write characters, stories, scenes, and how to write about worlds so that the readers could understand them. Mull had to have a good amount of imagination for these books, as well. If I were to meet the author, I would ask him how he began writing his stories. I have stories in mind too, but I don't know how to even begin actually capturing them. I'd tell the author that I thought that his books were really interesting. Could use some more female characters, though.

I am reading The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker and am on page 259 of358.
My author is actually two people. They are sisters. They have a blog together that they write on sometimes. They both have children and live in Cleveland, Ohio. The book I am currently reading does not have any prequels or sequels. They write together because they feel like that's what makes them write best. If I could ask the authors a question, I would ask them where the inspiration for this book came from. I think it's a really interesting plot and I would like to know how the idea came to them and how they collaborated to make the story work.

I am reading Emma by Jane Austen and am on page 57 of 418.
My author is Jane Austen. She was an English writer and grew up in Steventon, Hampshire, England. Growing up, she and her 8 siblings were encouraged to read extensively from their fathers library. Jane and her sister extended their education at a boarding school, this hower is not where she learned the art of writing, that she learned from herself. She began writing in notebooks short stories about romance and reality.
Jane would have to know a lot about social class at the time. She would also need to know advanced writing skills.
If I were to meet Jane I would tell her that she is my favorite author and that I love how she writes. I would ask her the following: What inspired you most to write?

Start with title, # of pages and # where stopped.

For today's journal, FOCUS ON THE AUTHOR: Answer in 8 to 10 sentences--so a couple of sentences for each question. Google the author. Most authors have websites!

1. Who is the author of your book? BRIEFLY tell about his/her personal background (family, home, education, etc.)
(3-4 sentences)

2. What do you know about the author with regard to this book? (First in a series? First book for the author? Did author win any awards for this book? Did he/she travel or do special research to be able to write it? I would suggest Googling the author name with book name with the word interview. For example: (2 sentences) To write my sample response about the book I am currently reading, I found an interview with the author.

My response: Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See took him 10 years to write. The idea came to him as he was riding on a train into New York City and because of a dropped cell phone call got interested in electromagnetic radiation and radio waves. The setting came to him after a visit to Paris.

3. What did the author have to KNOW to write this book? (2 sentences)

4. What would you like to tell or ask the author if you could meet him/her? (At least 2 sentences)
