While waiting for where she believed to be the next murder would be, she witnessed a fairy stealing from humans. Chasing to catch him, Emma tripped over a dead body covered in ancient Runes, the same ones that covered her parents after they were murdered.
Demons, warlocks, vampires, and fairies are all apart of the Underworld world. With the fairies breaking an ancient alliance with the Shadowhunters, a treaty was made stating that fairies were no longer subject to help from other Downworlders.

I'm currently reading Percy Jackson & the Olympians- The Lightning Theif (graphic novel) It doesn't have page numbers, but I'm about half way through.

Rick Riordan writes the Percy Jackson books. They're definitely my all time favorite series.
Even though Percy has no clue what will happen, or what his chances are, he goes on a quest to save the world from total war. He also has to save his mother.
As a demigod, Percy encounters several monsters from Greek mythology. He fights them in order to keep himself and his friends and family safe.
During his stay at Yancy Academy, Percy is attacked by his math teacher Mrs. Dodds. He later gets attacked by her again on a city bus, where he defeats her a second time.
