Top Shelf Salts

Top shelf, or top of the line salts. To make it easier to determine "better" salts, let's say whatever salts we think might sell for $50 or more. That would definitely be any Tiffany, Steuben, Quezal, Daum and art glass, but there's a lot more we have that would be worth over $50.

I wondered if anyone would post the convention salt from Williamsburg 2011. I think it's one of my prettiest.

Jytte, I'd be interested if Janelle knows the mark. It's very, very tiny and I probably can't a good photo of it. I'll try if Janelle wants to see it.

Hi Jytte, you would be much more able to judge that I, but I found information on marks on the silver base. One is a lion rampant on a simple shield, and the other is the letters I F K under what looks like a teapot in a square. I thought I saw it on a site of Danish marks. I need to go back and hunt. Any ideas?

Mary, I have your 218 in green. Love it.

Linda, none of our salts are bringing the prices the once did. There has been quite a crash in value. I can guess some of the reasons but can't completely explain.

Lacies seem to be still doing well on the big auctions in the East.

Debi, I thought it was a good trade, my sale money for something like 20 salts for the one. As if I needed to justify buying a salt! As you like blue, I'm a sucker for most shades of green. I admit there are some ugly shades of green, and I don't think I ever saw an ugly blue.

Yes, Nancy I do like the blue one, but I L-O-V-E the Daum! Such an unusual color. A Daum salt is another "maybe some day" salt for me. Wilfred and Dolly had an amazing one I fell in love with at a convention long ago. It was deep purple with bright pink fuschia flowers. Never saw another like it.

Here's a blue one for you, Debi, though it may not have been made as a salt. I bought a pair in Edinburgh, sold one. It's such a pretty shade of blue.

The entire Neal book is on the website. I would love to add in the additions from Acorn, but it's under copyright.

Nancy D: I like your millefiori shown in #117 the best. I do have a small basket, but it was never made as a salt. It's a more recent import, like 1970s or newer.

Mary: That sleigh is beyond gorgeous.

Time to add a few more topic salts...
