Just Say'n's just whining.

No one got thrown under the bus. Vicki hasn't been made into a pariah, even though she hurt a lot of people. Mr Lawyer didn't suffer in any way, despite being someone so likely to offend again that no halfway house in Colorado would take him.

Well, the hubbub is over, blood pressures have lowered, the people are patting themselves on the back, and a call for neighbors to hug each other has gone out.
The people who were abused by their neighbors for not embracing their hysteria have faded back into the shadows.

I found myself musing about this event…this human behavior and it brought to mind many instances of it in the area over the years.
Though the events were all different, the reaction of the majority of the locals was much the same.

One event in particular comes to mind from the early ‘80’s.
The Jimtown church sponsored some refugees to move into town and supported them while they stayed. I seem to recall that they were from Somalia, but I could be mistaken.
At any rate, they looked and sounded a lot different from everyone else and a lot of people weren’t happy about them being in town.
Of course, this was before the internet and instantaneous mass communication, so the QT of the day was the old fashioned whispers and rumor mill.

And the rumors flew…

Whispers of everything from dogs disappearing (obviously eaten by these barbarians) to men squatting in the front yard because sub-humans obviously didn’t know how to use a toilet.

It was pretty nasty, but I have to wonder how much worse it would have been had a QT had existed?

The same strategy of de-humanizing the paroled sex offender as well as anyone who disagreed with the lynch mob raised its ugly head once again.
This de-humanizing i.e. nullifying people’s worth in both opinion and even existence seems to be a human nature.

While concern for a paroled sex offender coming into the area was obviously cause for concern, the reaction of many was to rise to their most base instincts as did Christopher when he assaulted his victims.
The instincts that arose in both instances were arguably different in vulgarity, both were ugly nonetheless.

What can be taken away from these observations?

First, technology changes but humans never will.
Second, though there are good folks among us, most will throw their neighbor under the bus if they believe that in doing so they will save themselves.

Take it or leave it.

Transparent materials aside, we digress in regard to road reports.

Stay tuned for the next road report when the effects of space/time curvature causes wet stuff to come from above and accumulate here below albeit with a relative time discrepancy.

Baited breath…

aw man, ive always wanted a jackalope. oh, i hope that isn't racist.

clad to hear your friends don't need corrective lenses. while the thought of an asymmetrical ocular deficiency in an orangutan treated with a monocle is kinda funny, it also saddens me as my understanding is that most great apes (including myself) believe all transparent materials are spy tools used by the deep state.
i hate when it rains.

Per my recently discovered Constitutional Right (only visible on the original document with a special pair of glasses crafted by the Freemasons) I prefer to self-identify as an endangered species, a Jackalope to be precise.

Many of my friends though are in fact orangutans sans monocles.

Mr.,Ms., or Mx. Road Report, you are truly a funny and intelligent human being. ...or robot. ...or possibly an extremely well trained, monocle wearing orangutan. ill never know.

Latest update on road report….
This just in, the Peak to Peak highway as of this morning is still there yet the peaks at both ends seem to be missing. While no one has come forward to claim responsibility, Russia is suspected.

Assasaurous?
As far as I know, it’s been called that for years since somebody coined the term.
‘Don’t know who first painted it or why…can’t even recall exactly when it first showed up, but I suspect it was somewhere between the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

HA!!! guess i was wrong. people SHOULD come here for a road report. thats the best one ive seen on any QT.
thanks, R.P.

did you just make up "Assasaurous" or is that the unofficial official name for the painted rock dinosaur?
either way im using it from now on
is there a story behind the Assasaurous?

"i've only been in prison for 2 days yet already my Assasaurous." ...i may have used the word incorrectly.

The canyon is ok, though it’s changed so much I can no longer drive it blind.

Jimtown roads are mostly potholed, broken pavement, with often bicycle jams in front of the Merc.

The switchbacks are…well, the switchbacks, though the Assasaurous is looking dapper.

The dirt portion of overland was pretty greasy the other day…must be spring.

The roads in Ward are more passable then they were 30 odd years ago when they used to dig holes in them and park cars in the road at night.

this makes me think about the anonymous thing. one of the positives that anti anonymous people don't necessarily think about. we might not necessarily be having this conversation if we definitely knew who each other were. I have the names of a few neighbors that I am no longer interested in communicating with in my head right now. not that they are bad people or anything but we just dont mix well. or maybe i feel they are disrespectful or something (like they let their outside dogs bark for hours in the middle of the night). and if i knew who you were i very well might not want to engage with you. and the other way around. i know for a fact i have neighbors that just don't like me. but anonymity removes prejudice. we can only judge each other on our words

these posts just made me laugh out loud. Just Say'n is so right that people wont want to come here. i really don't see someone looking for a road condition report reading any of this.

FYI, yeah your right (sorta?). i over simplified everything so i didnt have to write a bunch of bs (an honestly i dont remember all the bs). your ISP wont know your websites but depending how you use the browser you may give clues to your ISP. your ISP can still figure out where you were from the sloppy clues you leave. (do u agree with that oversimplified comment?) I was just trying to point out Tor inst foolproof. and really i dont think most people use it in a way they they dont give off clues. It takes discipline to use it correctly and effectively. but i could b wrong. its been a while since i read up on Tor and VPNs. ill take a refresher course in the next few days and correct my comment.
It's kinda like this (i think) if web surfing is having sex, and getting pregnant is loosing your privacy than using Tor is the pull out and pray method. if you are very careful and did it perfectly every time it can work for you. but if you fuck around. you may let a little drop (clue) escape and there goes your privacy. then adding a VPN is like adding a condom. and i recommend using a condom plus pull out and pray (does that make sense?)
like i said i'll do my homework but u seem to know something so I'm interested in your input
i know oversimplification lends itself to criticism of every word used because really some things need all their words to be explained. i mean look at my post. you can pick apart "half anonymous" too. what the hell is half anonymous??
thanks for pointing this out to me.
