Linda, scroll to the bottom of the link above to see what Ed Bowman said about this salt. I know that Riverside joined National Glass in 1899, but this salt is not shown in the Riverside catalog and no Salty Comments mentions it as a Riverside salt. Richards & Hartley made the similar one without the berry. Salty Comments says the one without the berry has not been reproduced, but the one with the berry is modern. Link below.

There probably isn't much difference between the two. I like the fact that every time I reach so many points, I get a $5 Amazon gift card I use when I buy another book. Bing is associated with Microsoft and I think Google is just on their own.

Any time I want to find out something, I just type it into a Bing search. Sometimes I can't find what I'm specifically looking for but most times I do. Research made simple.

Thanks for the great research, Debi. I think you are queen of research. This is my little cherub, minus the Easter egg. I wondered what the wheelbarrow was for, really doubting that it is a salt.
As I suspected, even with a fine pedigree it isn't very valuable.

I put "Depose Italy 187" in a Bing search. Also found the below link on Etsy. If you read the text it does sound like this is Fontanini made of a polymer resin. The mark also dates it, spider earlier than fountain mark. Personally, I've never heard of this but you learn something new every day whether you need to or not!

I knew the meaning of depose, so depose Italy would mean simply registered in Italy, probably for export. I suppose the number is a design number, and the funny little mark is likely a maker's mark. I suppose it does look a little like a spider, Linda. Thanks for the suggestion. Because of the material, I've always supposed it is of little value. It would be gorgeous in porcelain.

Ok, but you have to admit it does look very much like early Fontanini, and the mark on the right could be their early spider mark

Depose is not a company. From an internet search: Depose—ca. 1900: Depose is the French word for "registered".

My only unusual winged salt is this one, sweet little cherub with painted wings pushing a wheelbarrow. It's made of some kind of plastic or composite but it's so beautifully molded. Stamped on one side of the base Depose Italy 187 and a tiny 6-pointed mark.
