1. My novel is Dad is Fat is has a total of 272 pages and I am currently on page 40.

2. My book takes place in Los Angeles, California. The time setting of the book is during the 21st century.

3. The author uses really short chapters in the book which really helps you follow along and not get mixed up with all the information some books with long chapters have. Also, he uses chronological order when he is writing starting during his late teens early 20's and continuing on.

1. My novel is titled Soldiers First. This book has a total of 257 pages, and I read through page 65 today.

2. My book takes place at West Point's Military Academy. The short stories in each chapter were recorded in 2011.

3. One thing that stuck out to me the most was the intensity of the first year at West Point. Called the "Plebe" year, cadre members demand the Plebes to run two miles in 14 minutes, do 42 push-ups and 53 sit-ups in two minutes, memorize any and every single fact about West Point and the Army, and more. Every individual going through their Plebe year find themselves on the verge of quitting, and those who end up lacking the necessary motivation do indeed quit. The Plebe year truly defines if a soldier has the motivation in order to fit the requirements of being an Army member. If they can survive this first year, they can survive anything.

3. The techniques that the author used consists of: Actual pictures, tours/interviews, and it is written in first person. At this point in the novel, the author has only given background information on the history behind Japan and the creation of the Flyboys.

1. The book I am reading is Shards, which has 272 pages and I am on page 76.
2. The book takes place in Maui, Hawaii. The book doesn't say exactly the years it takes place but you can tell that it took place in the 90s.
3. What has surprised me the most is the fact that it is a cop that is trying to get rid of the meth addiction in Hawaii, has become addicted to meth. I have not gotten to the part in the book where she becomes addicted to meth, but I have been reading about how she has become one of the best cops in the state to deal with the meth problem.

1. My book is The Glass Castle which has a total of 288 pages, 56 of which I have read.

2. The setting of my novel (so far) has been various homes in and around the desert of Arizona and California. I presume the time period is the late 60s/early 70s, as it is an autobiography and the author is currently 57.

3. The information that she has provided so far has all been pretty surprising. Jeannette (the author) and her siblings don't go to school, they're taught by their parents. At one point in the story the family has to move and uses a UHaul truck, but her, her sister, and her brother had to take turns holding their NEWBORN BABY SIBLING while completely NOT STRAPPED DOWN riding in the back of the UHAUL MOVING TRUCK, while driving HIGHWAY SPEEDS, and at one point the doors even flew open and Brian (her brother) almost fell out trying to shut the doors. Stuff gets crazy up in this book.
The information is presented it easily digestible chapters, real short with tons of detail.
Another interesting thing that has happened is that they settled down in a house in a mining town, and her mom wanted a piano. As it turns out, the saloon that was out of business had one, so they bought it and got it all the way to the outside of the house by borrowing a neighbor's pickup, and then proceeded to use a system of pulleys and ropes going from the piano, through the house, and to the backyard where the pickup was meant to pull the rope while somebody guided the piano up a ramp. The mother was in the pickup, and she doesn't do well in cars. Father tells her to go slow, so, -- like any other able-minded human would do-- she floors the gas pedal, slinging the piano through the frame on the front door, all the way out to break the back door, where it finally settles in the backyard. Her excuse was that the father always yells at her for going 25 on the highway, as it was too slow, so she thought 25mph was slow enough to drag a piano in the house. Craaaaazy stuff

1. I am reading A Child Called It, there is 153 pages total and I am on page 150.
2. This book takes place in Daly City, California during the 1960s-early 1970s. This is the main setting because the main character lived here during his childhood and in the book he explains the abuse he got during these years.
3. This story is told in first person because David is reflecting on his childhood. He wrote the book as if he went back to when he was a young boy and is retelling his abusive childhood story. From this, the reader is put into his shoes to see life from his perspective.

1. My novel is Gitchie Girl, I am on page 59 of 152 total pages.

2. The setting of my book is the Iowa/South Dakota border in the Gitchie Manitou State Preserve. The story has so far taken place on November 17-19, 1973.

3. The author uses the technique of putting the date and time at the beginning of each chapter so you know when exactly when the event occurred. The chapters are also shorter which means I don't get distracted as easily.

1. I chose to read The Faraway Horses by Buck Brannaman. This book has 273 pages I have read 45 so far.

2. The book is a story of his life in the early 60's to now, Right now the book has been a flashback of his life with his foster family. He has just started his horse training career and is working rodeos. It has mainly taken place at the ranch where his foster parents live and in the midwest as her starts to travel.

3. When I first stared book it was in the eyes of a young child describing life at hime and the thought times. It's a book that easy to dive right into and read for long periods of time. It's as though you are growing up with Buck as he grows up. Now the book has started to flip back and forth between perspectives and is really interesting to hear his perspective now vs as when he was a kid.
