I am reading Darth Vader and stopped at page 70 today. At the beginning of the book, Anakin and his mom are slaves on the desert planet Tatooine. After Anakin is found by Jedi Knight, Qui-gon Jin, he moves to the planet Coruscant. Coruscant is a planet completely covered in skyscrapers. The Jedi Temple is there, and it's also the capital of the Galactic Republic. There are also many forest, snowy, desert and different kinds of different planets they travel to. When Anakin fights his master Obi-wan Kenobi, before becoming Darth Vader, they are on Mustafar. Mustafar symbolizes Anakin becoming Vader, because it's a planet covered with volcanoes, and has endless rivers and oceans of lava. Anakin is defeated there, burnt completely, and loses both legs and his left arm. He is then forced to wear his special suit and respirator.

I am reading Frost by Wendy Delsol and I stopped on page 78.

Currently my book is set in northern Minnesota. So the weather is usually cold and snowy. Which really puts some meaning behind Jack and his ability to control weather and make it cold and snowing. The time is a modern setting. Right now is around Christmas time. Which really makes it festive and more emphasis on the cold and snow. They haven't really said how big or small the town is but from what I have gathered it is a smaller, cozy, and a really community orientated place.

I am reading Fifty Shades of Grey and I stopped on page 153.

This book is set between Portland and Seattle. Ana is about to graduate from WSU in Portland. After she graduates, she is planning on moving in to an apartment in Seattle with her friend Kate. Christian Grey’s business is based out of Seattle and he lives there as well. It is set in the current time period. The main events so far have taken place at Grey’s office, Ana’s apartment, and Grey’s house.

I am reading Maze Runner by James Dashner and I stopped on page 87.

Setting is very important in this book. The setting of this book, is inside a maze. The people there don't really know how they got there but, they know that they are trapped there until someone finds a way out. The maze also provides a home to them because there are grievers out there and they only come out at night so they are protected from them. There are gigantic walls around the Maze to protect the people inside from the grievers. But there are a few people who are brave enough to go inside the maze during the morning and try to find a way out. So settings is very important in this book, because it protects them from the creatures who could potentially kill them. I feel like the importance of the maze will increase over time, as the book continues.

I am reading J.R. by Jeremy Roenick and I'm on page 291.

The story I am reading is an auto-biography, so he goes all over the place. A lot of the first chunk of the story takes place in the Boston, Massachusetts area. He grew up during the mid to late 80's, jumping all around the New England area, including New Jersey, New York, and even places in Canada. Then he gets chosen in the draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, and he would spend the majority of the next 7 years in Chicago. After essentially passing his "prime" of his career, he would get traded to the Phoenix Coyotes. Once being traded, he spent a lot of time in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he lived throughout the late 90's. He would again get traded to the Los Angeles Kings for 3 years from 1998-2001, and was all over Northern California as well. He retired with the Kings, but returned the following season with the San Jose Sharks in 2003. From 2003-2007, he played with the Sharks in Northern California. The part that I'm at now has him jumping all over the place, because he is reflecting back on all of the memories he created throughout his NHL career, so I can't really specify much else.

Im reading Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and I stopped on page 93.

It doesn't really say much about the state or city they currently are. Majority of the time though they are in the “Naturals” household. Which is where they do all of their work, so theres not a lot of places they would go. Sometimes they leave to go to a park nearby or further into the city for investigations. It also doesn’t say a lot about what time it is either. This book is the second in the series and it says it takes place about 2 months after the events in the first book. So I would assume its set in the summer or fall.

I am reading the Great Gatsby and read to chapter 6 today.

The setting of the story is important for the plot. It takes place in the New York City Area. There is 3 different areas I believe. There's the West Egg, that Gatsby lives. They are less-fashionable and the new rich people live there. The East Egg is more fashionable and the original rich, classy people live there. The last place is the Valley of Ashes. Wilson has his garage in this region and so is the famous billboard from the cover. I'm pretty sure that's it's all within New York though.

Today I read Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. I stopped on page 130.

In this book, the characters live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The time period is modern and they are in high school. This makes the story pretty easy to relate to. Occasionally, there are flashbacks to stories that happened in Greg’s childhood and through his middle school years. Most of the book takes place in the school or at Rachel or Greg’s house. Some parts of the story take place at Earl’s house too. Since they are from Pittsburgh, some of the people say different phrases that we wouldn’t use here. Greg also jokes that everyone in their area wears Steelers clothing. I like how the author chose Pittsburgh as the setting because that is where he is from too.

I'm reading Beyonders by Brandon Mull and I'm on page 15. Jason, age 13, is the main character of the story and is in Vista Colorado. It's in the summer and Jason is practicing baseball with his friends. To be honest that's as far as I am. In the prolouge though, it hinted that Jason will be carried away into Lyrian, a place people find on accident. Anyway in the intro there is a boy, a prince, who is endure harsh conditions in a dark dungeon. There are chains on the wall that connect to his wrists and hold him up high enough he can't sit. The boy has been blinded by his enemies so we can't tell much of what's around him but he can hear the screams of his neiboring cell mates and smell the smoldering torches which makes me think Lyrian is a time in the past.

I finished The Vow today.
The story takes place in New Mexico and Phoenix, Arizona. It also takes place from about 1992 to 2012. As technology advanced, their lives were changed by influence and interest of the media, talk shows, and eventually a movie. The main character had to travel often from his hometown in New Mexico to visit his wife during rehab after a terrible accident in Arizona. This placed a tremendous burden on him but it was doable. As time progressed and they moved in with each other, they reaffirmed their vows. The popularity of their story caused them to travel a lot, which took a toll on them but they found it important to share their story to inspire others.

I am reading Crash Into Me and have stopped today on page 123.
The setting of Crash Into Me is located in Connecticut and Virginia. The author and narrator of the book lives in Greenwich Connecticut with her family of her husband and daughter. The book starts off taking place in September of 2005. We later go back to October 1984 in Virginia. Liz (narrator) is going to school at the University of Virginia along with the attacker she doesn’t yet know about. That is, until October 1984 when she’s sexually assaulted at a frat house party. Liz writes quite a bit about the events that happened then; consisting of the the next several months after that October date. However, we come back to her 2005 self occasionally.

Winning Balance -- Shawn Johnson stopped on page 11 (because I didn't start reading till 3:05)

Right now the story is in Des Moines, Iowa. She is currently in grade school trying to join gymnastics. It's mid January around 4:00 P.M. because it's after school. I think for as far as I have read today, she's going to be back in fourth between, Iowa, California, China. Right now she is currently talking about Chow, "her new gymnastics coach" and how he just moved from Beijing. The original coach Tom Dunn is making him coach already after he just got off a 13 hour flight and they just met, him and Shawn. Shawn is currently not fitting in at her gymnastics class so then her mom is going to a new one that was just built and was closer to home.

I am reading Risked which is the 6th book in The Missing series by Margaret Peterson Haddix and I finished on page 247.
The setting of the book is July 16, 1918 in Russia. This is during the Russian Revolution so there is a war going on. The old leader of Russia is being held captive and two of his kids, one son and one daughter, are sent back in time from the 21st century on accident. Chip, Kathrine, and Jonah are also sent back to 1918 to help the two children save the time period. The whole story takes place in a jail house. Jonah and Katherine are locked up in a cellar, and Chip is free out in the garden. The two children are locked back in their rooms with the family. The Russian guards are planning to kill the family that night in the cellar. Jonah and Katherine, with the help of Gary and Hodge(Evil time agents) and JB(good time agent) stop time and save Jonah and Katherine. With only 30 seconds available of undamaged time, JB can only save Jonah and Katherine, the rest of the kids are left in 1918.

I am reading the sorceress, and i stopped on page 395.

My book takes place in modern day pairs and London. The setting is important because that is were most of ht immortals live in this book. The king Gilgamesh lives in London. Shakespeare lives in pairs with his knights. And many others live there too. Soon however they will jump through lay gate that will actually take them back to the time of elders. It is where the final battle will happen.
