I need help, I need a friend. My pArtner of 34 years suffers from Tourettes. I hear him in the other parts of the house reciting racial slurs and expletives. This is getting worse as the years go by. He seems to have it under control when outside of the house but I am not sure how much longer this will last. he is strangely compulsive. I realize this is just him and this is the way it is going to be and Im here for that and always will be but its taking tis toll on both of us. I need help in understanding this and how to survive. The mood swings, the foul language, the loud outbursts and physical gesturing are all more than I can understand at this point. What is his future. His family is European and they refuse to acknowledge any of this. I am on my own.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for coming to the group meeting last Friday night. We're glad you could join us. We've never had weekly meetings during the winter months. However, it's something we could bring up at our November meeting. Join us again next month and we can discuss it.
Thanks!

i am in need of support. i missed the last meeting which was my second. went to dr.today.recommended that i take klonopin to help deal with the ocd disorder and anxiety surrounding it. i was feeling thati could do it by just meditating and doing positive relaxing thing for myself but the anxiety became too much. i feel like a loser and that this will never end. any thoughts about meds would be helpful. i take a ssri and a tricyclic
and have done so for many years. sort of in a quandry.
thanks for your support

Hi Linda,

The only other OCD support groups that we know of in Connecticut are the Yale OCD Research Clinic Support Group in New Haven (http://psychiatry.yale.edu/ocd/patients/support.aspx) and the Shoreline OCD Support Group in Niantic (call (860) 510-2109 or email collin.m.schuster@gmail.com).

However, we welcome you to join us at our next meeting, Friday, May 20th at 7:30 pm. Our group is moderated by two leading psychologists who specialize in treating OCD. You'll find us to be very welcoming and supportive.

Best regards,
Fairfield County OCD Support Group

hi guy
a belated thanks for responding on the topic of inositol. i have discontinued taking it at this time. worked well initially but i think the interaction with prozac made me feel more depressed and anxious. i will attend the next meeting on april 15. if you were to look at the literature
you would find that inositol has helped people who suffer from ocd. thanks a lot richard vizzo
