Tuesdays with Morrie, finished. The three songs.

Live like you were Dying by Tim McGraw- Morrie always emphasizes to Mitch that he needs to live life with no regrets and forgive everyone.

Knockin' On Heavens Door by Bob Dylan- Morrie is about to die and he knows and accepts it. He is trying to live life all the way.

How to Save a Life - The Fray - I would pick this because Mitch doesn't want Morrie to die but knows he cant do anything to stop it.

I'm currently reading Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn. I'm currently on page 158.

B. I'm really glad I don't relate to this book. Breathing Underwater is about a guy who beat up his girlfriend. His girlfriend filed a restraining order against him. The judge granted the restraining order and ordered him to attend anger management classes. The friendships in this book are what I'm reminded of in my own life. Caitlin, Nick's ex-girlfriend, has a friend named Elsa. Elsa tries her best to keep Caitlyn away from Nick because she knows he is nothing, but trouble. I have friends that are willing to stick by me through the good and the bad times. I think Elsa is that kind of person for Caitlyn. Caitlyn also eventually ditches Elsa for Nick and I have been on the receiving end of that also. I have a friend that is going through that type of thing right now where her boyfriend is more important than her friends. It is hard, but a fact of life. We are so close to being done with high school that I don't want her to look back and regret this last year. The truth is most high school relationships don't last. The other truth is that high school friendships eventually fade away and I think that is where a lot of my weaker friendships will end up.

I am reading Time's Eye and I finished it today at page 360 or so. I guess the first song I would choose would be Change with the times by Van Mccoy. I would say that the title says it all about why I would want to choose this song. It's about adapting and keeping an open mind when things change, pretty apt for my book. The second song I would choose is When You Lose Someone by John Miles. Although it is not a perfect fit it works, almost everyone in my book lost everyone they cared about as they were pulled out of time. So for all intents and purposes they've lost them, kinda, the ending does change things a little but I don't want to spoil it. The last song I would pick is starting over, I don't know who wrote it. But it is about trying again and again and if you fail just to get back up again. Which fits with the last portion of the book, where they are starting over and trying to start civilization over.

Tuesdays With Morrie, just finished

I have dealt with death in the past. This book tells about Morrie's slow death from ALS. My uncle Joe has cancer, next week we are having a little reunion, like Morrie's living funeral, because we are unsure of the procedure he will be undergoing soon to combat the cancer. Joe is a very nice guy and is a very humble man. He is having an experimental procedure done, so that makes us concerned. We are all hoping he makes it through with his health.

Fallen Angels Pg. 77

If you were to pick a playlist of 3 songs to best represent your book, what would they be and WHY?
1) Citizen/Soldier: I picked this song because its about how ordinary people go into the army to fight for there country.
2)Courtesy of the red white and blue: This song takes about how people went to fight for the freedom of our country
3)Travelin' Soldier: In the book Perry is taking about he want to write to a girlfriend but doesn't have one to write to.

Im currently reading Loving and I'm on page 96.

B. When my brother graduated from high school, one of his friends went to basic training. It was really hard for all of us because of how close we all had gotten over the course of the year. We barely ever see him when he's back because he's always so busy. In the book when Bailey leaves for LA her family is really sad. They think that she made the move to quick. She barely ever talks to them anymore because she is so busy. Nothing is going right for her and she is trying to figure out why.

The God of Small Things page 122

A memory that I have that is similar to something in this book is of going to the circus, or a movie, or anywhere pubic really as a child. In this book, they go to a movie and arrive late. They have to disturb a lot of people to get to their spots and then one of the children is annoying and makes the crowd angry. It just reminds me of when I was young and went to an event when I was supposed to be quiet and I just couldn't seem to do it. I remember the embarrassment of my parents, like the mother in this book, and I remember feeling bad, but also feeling unable to stop being obnoxious. I don't remember a really specific time, but I do remember fussing about how my socks were too tight and how I didn't like my shoes and such in a lot of situations where I needed to be quiet. I just thought it was interesting, even though the situation wasn't the same, the way the author wrote these parts. It just reminded me of the feeling I had and how uncomfortable the situation was.

I am reading 25 and the american dream. I am currently on page 18. In the book I am reading he becomes homeless by choice. He sees a lot of homeless people in the down town streets of Charleston, South Carolina. He explains how rough everything looks and how disgusting some things are. I have been to big cities before and I have seen the homeless people. Even in Sioux Falls there is homless people.
