Table Tennis fever grips Ipswich again this Sunday with The highly prestigious Britannia East Anglian Top 16 table tennis tournament taking place at the Dome

A number of the invited players being nationally ranked well within the top 100 list.

Such is the popularity that we already have a number of quality players waiting to play if anyone drops out. Players are coming from Cambridge, Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk to compete.

Of the 16 players available to play three have won the event before, the good news is that Suffolk number one Jake Collins twice a Champion here is back to play from University, while another two time Champion Cambridge's Martin Gray is back for the first time since he won it a few years ago and is seeded four.

Norwich player Adam Gigly who gave up playing for a few years and has come back into the frame in the last few years won the title in the mid part of the last decade and despite not being Nationally ranked has a rating so get's a number two seeding in his group.

The top seed is Polish star Dariusz Zukowski a very charismatic and entertaining player who plays with a combination bat. A former runner up here is Suffolk number two Ryan Collins, who although ranked below his brother Jake in the County finds himself above him here by one place on National ranking alone.

Essex’s Steve Joslin seeded five beat Jake Collins in a seeded event here last year, while former Chelmsford champion Keiran Lally is another player who can trouble the best.

There is strength through the ranks and Suffolk defender Richard Hutchinson could well qualify for the top section following the group stage, while Cambridge’s Kevin Gray can also be difficult to break down as both defend well with long pimples

As ever the format is four groups of four players with all in a group playing one another and on games won the top two players go through to the championship section and those coming third and fourth go through to the second section, in both sections players play another three games to decide their final placings.

Spectators are welcome to watch and play starts from 10 30am on Sunday and the dome will be open from 9 30 for practice.
