Welcome, Mark. I count about 70-75 in you photo. Would you say these are representative of the 600? You have a few nice clear pattern glass salts there and many that are rather common. Without being able to see all 700 or inspect them for chips, etc., it will be difficult to assess the value. We do have some people who check this chat board who buy collections. Best to ask one of them what they typically pay per salt. Again, it looks like you have a few goodies in this picture!

Hi, Lauren! Welcome! The salts your grandma gave you are not pattern glass. They are intaglio glass salts. I would guess circa the 1920s. They are most likely Czechoslovakian. They are lovely! Some salt collectors focus their collections on intaglio salts, which can also be found encased in beautiful brass holders, often encrusted in “jewels” which even though not precious gems create a fabulous presentation. Bottom line... grandma done good! Enjoy!

Hello, I am new to collecting glass and my Grandma has given these to me, she told me they were used for salt on the table. Can someone tell me anything more about them? What the pattern is and around what year they could be from?

Hi Pat - as Mary suggested, it's Judy here. If you are on Facebook, I would suggest you join Open Salts: Buy, Sell or Trade group. If you are not on FB, please post some pictures here and let us know where you're located.

Hello, we have inherited a collection of salts and would like to offer them to other collectors.
How do I need to do that? There are a couple of sets of 9 and 12, others with 6, 3 and 2.

Providing the creek doesn't rise Linda - I will see you there!!!! I adore conventions - I live for the laughter and BUY and sell - Lots of information passed on and of course BUY and sell - Doing everything within my power to be at the convention next year and you know they have BUY and sell there also -- Hope someone will mail my stuff home for me again - Sure makes it easier to BUY when you don't have to tote it on the plane to get it home -- I think I need to start saving more than quarters because I just remembered they have BUY and sell at the conventions

That’s great news, Linda! You, along with everyone else, will be invited to come to my home for an open house, if you like. Unfortunately, none of us lives right in the greater DC area. So it will be a drive to the open houses. But I think Kent Hudson and I will both open our homes, maybe some others too. So it may be worth the drive, especially if people can carpool.
At the San Diego convention, Linda Witt and I had planned to rent a car and do all four open houses in one day. Sue Sawyer and Linda Kump decided to join us, and we had a great day seeing four fabulous collections! It took us more than 12 hours, as I recall, but it was worth every minute! I’m so glad I got to Mary’s... her salts are so beautifully displayed. Robin and Gerry have a very similar taste in salts to me, so getting to see the ones they chose for their collection from the varieties we all enjoy was really fun. Wilf and Dollie have the most fabulous salts... the kinds I can only dream of owning! So seeing them was our pleasure. And Elaine had the most comprehensive collection of Doulton salts... varieties I never knew existed! It is just a wonderful experience to see other collections. Such a joy!

I keep getting out bid at the last possible second!! LOL I waaaay overspent at the last flea market/ antique show, but what do you do when you tell your husband to pick two for you, and he tells you to go ahead and buy them all? So, I am being cautious, but if there's a blue Davidson coming up give me heads up.

Yes, we still have lots of Berg Salts to list (mostly me, the gigantic slacker). This Empress Judy writing, as I am also the "sort of" master of this board. Jeff trusts me WAY too much - LOL! So, Linda, keep searching berg salts and keep buying!

I'm definitely planning on the convention. If I drive I might do a sales table. My nephew who lives in that neighborhood is planning on getting married at about that time, just hope not that weekend! so might make it an extended trip. And I could spend a lot of time visiting where the ancestors lived.
I can't wait to see what you put on the reverse auction from the Berg salts. I can guess on one or two.
Of course if I could sell some of my duplicates ahead of time it would help.
Mary, I plan on seeing you there.

The babies have to stay together and I paid too much for them - and then again - maybe not as I have never seen anything like them - I shall put some change of ownership thoughts in my wittle brain and mull them over for a bit - or would this be pedigree adoptions - Thanks for the offer of free boarding - If I can travel alone - may take you up on it - but right now I would need to come and go as Ellin can - My body is not trustworthy on its own - lol lol
