I remember those hobnail pieces used as ashtrays in homes of my parents' friends when I was a kid. I've always thought of them as ashtrays rather than salts, probably because of those memories and because there are so few square salts.

Debi, did we ever identify them... the Hobnail squares??? I know I have a round one with a lable but I thought we just figured that's who was selling it? Did we ever come up with Brookes glass?. Sorry, I don't remember. I know we have talked a lot about them. I forget so much these days.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well.
Nancy D.... wow, smoke from out West. Remarkable. They suffer these darned fires every year. Very scary. How's your mouth? Got your new teeth yet? What is the 1st solid food you're going to eat? Lolololol, the cat picture had me crossing my eyeballs. Lololol, a good laugh for today.
Hi Nancy V, how are you doing? Have you moved up to the Jitter Bug yet?
My SALT OF THE DAY, This little guy is so beautiful in real life. The seller had another in red glass. Have no idea why I didn't try to get it. ??? I do or don't do strange things at times.

Cute picture Nancy D. I just saw these "leopard cats" this week. They are supposed to be pretty rare and probably expensive.

Lynda, Saw your post on the EAPGS Facebook page. I thought we had those square hobnails pretty well covered on the website. We even have that catalog page.

Nice to see a new/old collector, Randa.

Here is the glass case and some of the salts a friend who was a small collector gave me when she was moving. None of the salts are extraordinary, but many pretties. I especially loved a triangular Orrefors cut glass, on the right on the top shelf. Really nice case too, the type that stores often used to display since it can be locked. Such a nice gesture from an old friend who knew I collected.

Unpacked a box of porcelains. Some pretty ones in there. I'm going to have to get some jewelry trays to put them on and set in drawers. I found another bigger box in the closet marked porcelains. I'll wait for trays to get here before I unpack them.

Jan has her grand-daughters with her for the next 3 days. She's thrilled with that visit.
The last Ayres auction had mostly pottery, earthenware, mocha type salts. I love that type of salt but didn't even bother to bid. Jeffery Evans auctions command such high prices that it's out of my range. The thing is, the Ayre collection had to have more than what's been sold.???

Lynda, not VIGILANT because that pattern has a wide ring base. I do think your posted salt is Fostoria though. It doesn't have a pattern name as far as I Know, just Fostoria #2263. Check the Fostoria page for the differences. VIGILANT is a pretty rare pattern too. I don't have one. If you bought a lot of the clear glass Berg salts, you might have one.

Heck, hello. Been among the missing and back trying again. Hope you continue to heal Debi and the bending, standing, walking, you know the daily activity gets easier for you.
Nancy D your kitty cat looks like what I will be doing tonight, except with company. One of my kids decided we need a Friday Night Movie Night. Been doing it for some time. Never know, could be two of us and sometimes four. Dumb movies, but we have fun.
I will see if I can find my individual oval box in among all the clear glass boxes and see if I have the missing salt. Jan would have put a tag in it with it name on it so knowing if I do or not will be easy. Hard part is wading through the boxes. as soon as I have juice in my phone will post a salt picture here and on the stripes and stars side. I have been slacking on both..

Good morning everyone. The weekend is here again. Some days seem to go by quickly. This was one of those weeks.
All is well. My youngest son has completed his 8 day kayak trip on a river in Montana. Every year, he and former Boy Scout leaders take a river trip and camp along the river banks. Last year had to be postponed. I was happy they were able to succeed this year. My problem was that there was no ability to communicate during the trip. But he assured me they had an emergency radio and one of the guys was a doctor. All went well and he is sharing amazing photos.

Years ago I had an egg thing to trim calluses. I was always barefoot so I'd get calluses. I still go barefoot but no longer outdoors so no longer get calluses. You must have taken a good chunk..... I say OUCH. Thank God our bodies heal.
Nothing new here. Nancy D, anything new on your teeth? Nancy V Hope you are still doing well. Mary isn't feeling well but God love her she keeps plugging along. Jan is not feeling great either and when she feels good she works in her yard. Bet her yard is beautiful.

Lynda, I didn't bash my toes. I cut skin off too deeply with the razor tool I use for calluses. It's on the side of my foot just above the heel. Sucker wouldn't stop bleeding for an hour and now every time I put any weight on it it starts bleeding again. Been putting antibiotic cream and new bandaids daily. At some point I will have to uncover it so it can get some air but I don't want it to dry out too quickly and leave a scar.

Lynda, Yes that's Larry's store. That was listed several weeks ago, back when Nancy V bought the Crider one. I just told Larry the other day I need to sell more. Problem right now is most would have to be washed from sitting on the open shelving in a spare bedroom, also known as the shipping room. I especially can't be on my feet right now. I have a small gouge just above the heel on my left foot. Walking on tiptoes on my left foot is not easy. Don't ask how I did it. Wasn't paying close enough attention to what I was doing.

Good morning everyone. Have a wonderful day.

Debi is correct, we are caught between weather systems from the west and south. Our reservoirs are well over full, unusual as we are usually drier than we need. The variation in temperatures, from high 60’s to high 90’s, keeps us guessing from day to day.

I suspect that the NE US is trapped between the rainstorms coming from the west (like we have been getting here in Michigan), and the remnants of the hurricane. In other words, NJ is getting it from the west and the south. We've had on and off rain and thunderstorms for weeks and still getting them. It is summertime after all. If we didn't have the rain, we'd be complaining about it being hot and dry.

So lovely green & blue.

I got a surprise gift today. A friend who is moving into a smaller apartment called to say her granddaughter is coming to give me salts she is clearing out as she readies her things to move. I expected 2-3 salts, but the young woman arrived with a three-shelf glass case crowded with what must be about 30 some salts. None were exceptional, but I had a salt feast cleaning the case and all the salts, and I've set it up on a low chest in my bedroom and will think of Jan every time I glance at it.

Lynda, love your salts.

We have had torrential rains, branch breaking wind and temperatures that go from almost 100 degrees one or two days, and then falling into the 60’s for a few days. Very capricious and confusing. Today we are in the 70’s with on and off rain. Yesterday, torrential storms.

Doing fine, Lynda. I was thinking I wasn't making any progress, but a visit from my home PT showed significant improvement from a week ago in how far I could walk without tiring. That's the main goal I have now, being to walk far enough to get around the apartment complex for some activities and out to my car to drive again.

L have always loved these little glass bulbous salts with metal feet, rims and spoons. I never had a colored one, just opalescent white.

The day before we had a roque storm with large hail and terrible thunderstorms.

Hi everyone, hope everybody is doing well. Nancy D, how'd it go with Elsa? Any storm problems?
Linda, you make me laugh. I've camped in both plus a pop-up. The camper is nice but I found we stayed inside and to me camping is for outdoor enjoyment. I like the tent as it forces me to be out in the fresh air. Can be difficult in the rain though. The tents today are pretty neat. We even watched Netflix on the tablet. I'm too old now for any of it. But it can be very relaxing.
Nothing new here. Need to take pictures of salts. Here's my salt of the day. My favorite ..... Celery set. I'm not sure it's for celery. It is smaller than my other Celery sets. Radish sets/ fruit sets are round. Maybe this one is for cucumbers???

Linda, I am so sorry for your losses. Prayers to you and your family. Hope you are eventually able to have a better summer. Much love your way.

Linda, a 10 year old. That breaks my heart. That's not, right in my opinion. At 90, God bless her soul and long life. Yea, camping is a good idea. Lolololol, any thought of tenting, near water. Instant Valium. I'm sorry for your heart. Feel better as soon as you can. I hope you have a great time at the auction.

I'm wiped out, wish we could go camping, but the pickup is in the shop, again. Guess I'll va-cay in my back yard LOL tomorrow there's a really good auction down the street. No salts listed but looks like some other good collectables. Just hope my husband doesn't bid on the cars

We are awaiting the hurricane Elsa in NJ. Terrible taste of it yesterday. Had hail the size of ice cubes and torrential rain all afternoon. It sounded as if someone was knocking at my door! Very frightening afternoon but lucky to not lose power.

Hi everyone. I've gotten a ton of water from the hurricane. My porch is about 3 inches above ground and there is standing water just beyond it. The ground is saturated. There is a ditch just beyond the apts, about 7 feet away. It is full of water. If that over flows my porch and apt will have water in it. I didn't sand bag as it has never been a problem before. I may regret that decision. I am thankfull we still have electricity.

Hi everyone. So far no huricane weather as yet. Maybe tomorrow. I don't get all upset like my son in law does. He is all shook up. Course he is 40 miles closer to the coast than I am. My feeling is...,what can I do? Not owning a home makes a lot less worries. I remember my Mom, who lived in Golf Shores, ALA. She had to drag in plants, lawn furniture, put up window protectors. That was very hard as she got older.
Thank you Mary for trying to figure out the high rise salt. To me it looks like a trophy. I love your fishes. Very happy little fellows. You are selling a Davidson? What Davidson. Judy which one is it. I love Davidsons and I'm nosey.

Morning everyone. Spent last night hanging on to two kitties explaining to them that the world was not erupting and we were all going to die...... Poor babies.

Nancy V, I have in my possessions 3 or 4 multiples of ones listed as rare in the book. Many have lost their status, though there are some still very rare and unique ones out there.

I have to tell you, I am so tired of salts everywhere. My house is over run with them. This purging is taking far too long and I am ready to just pack them all up and send them off to any auction house I can. I won't, but that is where I am at. Oh well.......

Hi everyone. I went looking for any of those Battersea salts but they are all gone. Then I read the posts. Congratulations Susie. The pictures below of the small ones are very pretty. I have one and very happy to have it.
It's raining again today. Very weird, cloudy rainy days for 2 weeks. A big problem in Fl is or are, Water Oaks. They are oak trees with shallow roots. In our Sandy soil that's bad. As we get wetter they start to tip over. With the hurricane coming, a lot of trees will be down. Bad for the electric wires.
It seems everyone is doing better, feeling better. I'm glad. Happy forth to everyone.

A salt for the day, a Battersea enamel over copper, unusual because it's in perfect condition and is quite small. I wondered if that was a problem, but I found one like its size in The Open Salt Compendium, described as rare. It measured just under 2" wide at the rim. I bought a set and listed one on eBay.

Morning everyone. Linda is right about looking on eBay. If I want to use it as a price guide, I only look at SOLD, not asking. There is a seller right now asking $25 to $30 dollars for the common glass salt. Yep you saw that right, "salt" one only. Sellers like this make it hard for the knowledgeable ones asking a correct and reasonable price for the salts they post..
Nancy so glad for you on the family and dentist home front. You are indeed lucky and Blessed.
Debi, I am so sorry you are experiencing that much pain. It really does take away parts of our lives. Glad you are feeling better and know you will not jump into anything. Return slowly. Thanks for the new topic. Even hurting you came to our rescue...

Debi, hang in there. Pain can control our entire life.

Lynda, my middle son, Bruce, and his wife, were able to get me to the dentist. Took both to lift mr down my steps in a wheelchair. Was necessary because I needed X-rays. When my bridge is done, the dentist will bring them. I’m fortunate that he is a long time friend and his office is only 5 minutes away. He thinks of me as another mother and has come before.

Hi everyone. Hot and humid here but nothing new for Fl. Looks like more rain again today. Is it normal for you to be humid Mary? I thought your part of country was hot and dry? Shows how much I know.
Can't say much going on here. I get worn out too Mary. Just buzzing around the house I need breaks. ...ok, just heard a truck delivering something to the door.
Everyone stay well. Here is my salt of the day. Turkey tracks.
Oh, almost forgot. Nancy D, I love that cat.
   To both Nancys, get well.

Thats one fluff ball with closely okayed beady eyes Nancy. Been cutting my own hair for a while, but going to have to go some place soon and get a professional to fix my clippings.
We all seem to be burning up, too muggy to function or dripping wet. Hope nature is using up all its bad stuff early and will eventually give us some days we can live nicely in.
Everybody have a great day despite the weather..

Good morning everyone. Have a wonderful day.

We are in the 90+ hot & humid part of the country. Haven’t had a haircut or perm in two years. My hair just lays on my head, humidity or not. Love this cat, though.

A bit of an unusual Navajo set.
While you all are in beddy I am sneaking in here. I do not seem to have any stamina lately and having to go mire than one place or having peoples over just drains me. I just woke from one of my mandatory napping sessions and now getting ready for bed, but wanted to stop by here first and also post some creatures on the other board. Hope you all have a beautiful Wednesday morning in case I don’t make it early tomorrow. Hugs to all.

Hope everyone is doing well. Still thinking about our 2 Nancys.
Nancy D, much love to you also. 63 years, long time. How wonderful to have been in love and still loving him. It is a real gift to find a soul that is yours for 63 years.
Congratulations.
My salt of the day, this pair isn't very old but I love the blue and the clear is frosted. Kinda different.
I hope you are all doing well. Judy, My thoughts are with you. At our age, who care if we have a few extra holes here and there. We have learned that life is precious and we appreciate everyday. Be well my friend.

Thought you would get a smile out of my backward duck. First one I have seen like this. I do love him and see him just floating in the pond enjoying all that he sees.

Mary, Lololololol, Macky knows how to relax. And who needs a whole nose. Matters not, he is still beautiful.
Relaxation is important. Never worry about time spent where you feel good. You know we salt people are not in a hurry for you to mail. In my mind I already have the salts in hand.
Now seems a good time to add another salt picture. Here is a clambroth colored salt.

Wow Lynda, going to have to go to my computer so I can enlarge your picture. Looks magnificent though in what I can see on my wittle phone screen.
We will take your rain. Thank you at least for the offer. I am supposed to be wrapping and boxing and selling, but seem to be enjoying my rocking chair more. I may have to have it moved to the garage until I get caught up…
Mackie has lost half his nose to the cancer and it is doing a good job of it on the other half. But as you can see, cleanliness is still a priority.

Good afternoon everybody. Nancy D.... crazy cat picture. I wake up looking like that some times.
Big thunder boomers here today. Would like to send the rain Mary's way. They could use the rain. We have had rain everyday for over a week. Thankfull for it. But it is needed in Cali.Mares, I will struggle to find new salt pictures. Lolol... maybe not so big of a struggle. I'm addicted. Now let's talk about your salt. Let's see, a Queen's crown with your name on it. Yea, that just about says it all. I've called you the Queen of silver and now I have proof.
I'd like Nancy V to send us a video of her doing the Hokie Pokie. She is getting so perky. Keep it going Nancy.
My salt of the day is opalescent not milk glass. A really nice pedestal. Most likely Vallerysthal. LOVE any Vallerysthal. Thank you Jan, you have such a good eye.

Lynda, fret not this weekend over the missed call. You are good to go and hang n to the positive. Keep showing your salts as a distraction, nice for us too. I know you have enough to last the weekend…..
After all these years, finally a salt that is truly mine. I live the sort-of-lion like creatures that hold the bowl with my name in all caps etched into it. Finally, a monogram I can live with!!

It might be a small rose bowl or what is sometimes called a violet bowl. As far as maker or pattern, try looking through the EAPGS data base. Looks like the top on Duncan Miller or maybe Fostoria Alexis, but it might be a little later than EAPG.

Lynda, sorry about your new car. At least you weren’t injured! That’s a big plus. Ken’s girlfriend was sideswiped by a truck in her new car last year. Good insurance helps, but it is traumatic.

Ken left Saturday morning. He helped me a lot. My doctor made a house call as I hadn’t seen her since last October. We discussed the Covid-19 shots. We are all worried about me having a bad reaction and being alone is a concern. Everything checked out and we are all pleased I am managing on my own with minimal help.

Good afternoon everyone. So nice to see some chatter on here.
Well, kids are out of school. I'm now officially lonely. Amazing how having the 3 kids here everyday for 2-3 hours makes time fun.
Susie, that salt is on my list of have to haves. Jytte has a number of them. The simplicty is its beauty. Someone else just got one tgat has blue.... vines wondering around it, I believe.
Nancy D, I'm really glad Ken is there right now. He'll make sure your jaw is taken care of. I'm sure the infection has improved but so glad he is checking in on you.
Nancy V, how you doing....Gimpy? Lololol, just pulling your leg. Lololol, sorry.... I have sick humor. But I love ya. I do hope you'Re doing better. I worry more about the anxiety as that is very stressful. One thing for sure, you are building up muscle and getting stronger everyday.
Judy, the Wavecrest Tulip..... I love melon salts. Adore them. They are beautiful pieces of art. Your Tiffany is very different, the color looks like the sun. I don't know Joe Zimmerman.... do I? Did he make salts for one of the conventions?
I guess as we have some melons showing might as well keep it going for the SALT OF THE DAY. These I had before I got around 12 melons from Mary.
