Hi everyone. Hope ya'll are felling good and are happy.
Nancy D, Glad you enjoyed your visit. We Mom's worry about our kids but don't worry about his surgery. He'll do fine. I forget what he is getting worked on? I'm sure his surgeon is knowledgable and capable.
SALT OF THE DAY, a pretty cut pedestal. Please find a little laughter and joy today.

Good morning everyone. Hope you all have a good day.

Had wonderful days with my youngest son. So glad to see him again! We had pizza, sub sandwiches and lots of reminiscing. He also fixed a lot of things for me. But, he leaves this morning. I hope it won’t take another 6 months before we can be together again.
It’s made me feel much better now. Still worried about my oldest scheduled for surgery in March.

Good afternoon ya'll. Hope you are all bright eyed and bushy tailed today. Sunshine and in the 80's here. Kids have started soccer. Remember this name, Hunter LaLonde. He is on his way to becoming a star goalie. 10 years old and has already won many compititions. Other teams actually request that he come and sub for them. I'll be dead and gone but I think he just might get famous. I love it, Cheyenne and Madison play but more for the activity. Nadia is lifting weights and Morgan plays the trumpet. Keep them busy and they stay out of trouble.
SALT OF THE DAY. A gift that made me cry with joy.

Good morning all.... P.J., I cannot remember if they do or not and right now all of my doubles have been crammed together awaiting my purging, so I cannot check but will try to find it later. After more then one cup of coffee.....
Not sure what this mornings picture will be...but it will be a salt ..... I am going to try and take a picture and then move it to a folder and then post it here. I will start with the blue Moser pedestal. I have to practice eBay pictures also and get comfortable loading them so I can start selling there also.
Okay, may be back later but if not everyone have a great day...

Mary and Nancy V. Love those type of Moser salts. Can't imagine one in pedestal form. They are really nice salts. Family is fun. I thank God for mine being close. Enjoy while you can.
Mary, your double is beautiful, just remarkably beautiful.

Morning Nancy. Mine is straight sided and quite small. Only 1" tall. I have a pedestal also which I will try and take a picture of for later or tomorrow. I think I have someone here most of today. Have a lunch group here also. I am trying to do this at least once a day so I can remember how..
Nancy D, I am so happy for you with your son visiting. With April and Mathew leaving soon, I am truly realizing how precious time with them is..
Okay, I am off to get a picture, one of my precious doubles this morning...... at least I hope so!!

Mary, my blue cabochon Moser is shaped a little differently from yours I think. It flares while yours looks more straight sided. Now that I take another look at mine, I may be just seeing things. Mine is the small size, estimated at 1 1/4" wide at the rim.

I do love the blue of my castor, but I wouldn't have posted it as a salt even if it would fit the color theme. I see you have blue, green and brown and also clear. The clear one at left isn't a castor, is it? Looks oval. All the others probably are, the big brown and clear for sure. The back row looks smaller, but may just be the placement.

That was Nancy D whose son is coming to visit, Lynda. How do we ever keep the Nancys and Linda/Lyndas straight?

Here is my piano castor, also known by the poetic name Dome of Silence. I've seen them in green, blue, and brown glass, always a huge hunk. I can't imagine why anyone would think they would work well as a salt dish.

Hello All
I'm A-OK and so is the house. My daughter was very lucky thru all the cold and power outages. She had electricity and water the whole time. We are both in good shape. Only watching for what may be the highest electric and water bills we've ever gotten.

I saw robins in the back yard after the snow and a couple of squirrels running up and down one of the trees. So I'm posting my Fostoria RED BIRD and hoping better weather is just a few weeks away.

I think so, Lynda. Most if not all of us have some pieces we know weren't made as salts but that we like and keep in our collection anyway. I also have several smaller sub-group collections of smalls that my eye spied as I looked foe salts. And I've found eggs for my daughter's collection, and various things my sister was currently collecting, like place card holders, knife rests, etc.
We can all use some pretty pin dishes to hold things on our desks, dressers, and bathroom counters.

Smashing double salt, Mary. When I moved from Hawaii to Texas, I got rid of all my larger salts to be able to fit into one large case and a few small wall cases. I had been selling off for months in advance of the big move. I tried to hold my collection of one of a kind (mostly) and no really big ones.

Here's a dragon pattern cloisonné set I bought in a small boot sale at a museum in Honolulu. Price $17. I remember the great bargain ones.

Okay I go find a salt. I have to pull them from a file I have set up in my pictures, same as I used to but I have to remember how I did it with this computer, so you will get old pictures, but hey, you will get a salt.. Hugs and a good day to all..

Thank you Nancy V. Larry usually does his clothing shopping on Friday morning and because of the snow last week he didn't go out. But he goes a little nuts if he doesn't have items to list daily so when I cleaned off my kitchen cupboard (sort of like a Hoosier cabinet) I decided to part with some stuff. I had to make room for some salts that had been out in the open a long time looking messy so I pulled out a few to sell. I like Crider salts but have enough already. The thistle salt/toothpick is nice, just a little large for me. Except for my blue and white china masters I don't like larger salts. No place to display them. Next I have to tackle the shelves in the back bedroom otherwise known as the "shipping room". Lots of doubles there and other salts I never see. Also a few in my main display case I can do without that would give the others a little more breathing room. LOL

Mary, I'm so happy for you and the kids. I know you are all having a grand time. It'll be nice to have you posting pictures here. I am amazed at the salts I've seen. The world of open salt cellars is truely wonderful.
Nancy V. I am so glad all is well with you. Home will seem very quiet and empty. It is good you will have your kitty with you for company.
Nancy D, Glad one of the boys called you. Don't be like my mother, if you need to get in touch cause you're lonely, call 1 of the boys yourself. Staying in touch is so rewarding. I sometimes do a P M face time with the grandkids when I get lonely. That's a fun thing to do.

Morning everyone, more pretty salts and as usual a cute kitty.. I am so sorry for those of you in such awful snow and cold. Cannot imagine being without power also. Lost my AC right after I lost Bobby, middle of August - we had temps in mid to high 90's and the cats and I trying to survive that heat with just fans.... Not fun and very hard, so I am sure the reverse of cold and no heat has to be scary..

Had the best time I have had in so long yesterday and today I get Mathew all to myself.... April said they are spending every Sunday with me until they leave. So much yet to do, but I am taking their time anyway..... She is getting her service dog letter for Bentley so no place back there can refuse to rent to them because they have a big dog. Big hurdle cut down to size.

Well enough of my chattering...... soon, hopefully chattering will also be enhanced with a nice salt of the day from me and maybe my cobalts before the month ends. Happy day to everyone and stay safe!!!!

Lololololol... V.... Susie just posted 2 of this type salt on F B. Her's are a bit different. The bowls are wavy. I nearly lost my teeth they are so beautiful. Just for kicks, look on ebay for rinestones or jewelry stones. Even Costume jewelry. I got a bunch to fill in missing stones on my intaglio holders. Have'nt done a thing with them, lolololololol, but if I get in the mood.... they are there. Hopefully Susie will post those stunners here.

Yeah, Lynda, I've always liked these salts, come in several different colors. I have a rosy pink one, but it has only one of the 4 rectangular stones around the base. I like it anyway. I too have forgotten what I knew about its origin. Debi will probably tell us. I think they are in some of the books too. How lazy is that? Of course, none of my books are where I am now.

Hello everybody. Still worried about our Texas family. It seems to be one mess after another.
Nancy V, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. We use to live with the kids when we got old. A very good practice. Altough families getting a long back then was probably difficult as it is now. I am thankful everyday that the kids are so close. The fact that 3 of the grandkids come here after school makes getting up worthwhile.
Susie P, I think of you often and hope you are healing after the death of your Dad. My heart aches for you.
Mary, I so understand the joy you're feeling of having April and Matt with you. And yes,I know the dread of them leaving again. But as Susie said, enjoy. Try not to think of them leaving.
Nancy D, that kitty does not have a "one horse open sleigh." Cute picture. I enjoy them so much. Love animals.
My SALT OF THE DAY, just got this one. I'm thinking Czech made. I've seen these..... somewhere. I love it.
Well, peoples, stay safe, warm and happy. You guys make my day. Love you all.

Good morning all....
I am so very sorry for your cold and snowy days, Wish we could meld our weathers and have pleasant days. Please, everyone stay safe and warm...

I am so excited this morning. Going to have brunch with the kids. April has been so busy getting ready for the move, I have not seen her for a while and Mathew, well it has been almost two years.... I hope I am not too excited to eat....

Tomorrow while she is at work, Mathew will be here with me and my computer. Knowing him it will be more like he will be here with my computer and me... Praying he can fix my picture problem and then I will be more apt to spend time here at my desk with this huge screen, than in my chair with a phone in my hand..

I am so happy to see them, but cannot stop crying because it will be so soon when they leave.... Must put on a happy face this morning..

Loving all the cats and pretty salts.... Always a nice happy place to come to.. Ya'll have a great day

NE Texas is sunny today, should have a few hours above freezing to start a melt, but will freeze over again tonight. My apartment complex has steady power now but some areas are without water because of broken pipes. They still have buses in the drive as warming stations. I may check into returning on Sunday, first day with much warming. Meanwhile I'm enjoying life with my daughter's family. It's nice being part of a three-generation family in a home, which is no longer as common as in the past.

Hi everybody. You know, living in Central N Y, we always had tons of snow. I just don't remember power outages. Course with the fireplaces, I guess it wouldn't have been a hardship to remember. But you'd think I'd remember the fun of it. Snuggled in the living room and Mom cooking off the logs. Nope no memory of that at all. I hope Judy is warm. We know Nancy V is O K. I really feel badly for those that have no heat. Have they set up centers for them to go too? I had my airconditioning on today.

Cold is cold, Nancy V, especially if you aren’t used to it!! We whine about it here, but it is the midwest; we always hope for a mild winter and expect the worst. I do love the snow, once it’s cleaned up enough to get around. We all joke about our cold weather gear—time to get ugly!

But I believe we are in deep do do with the weather and our planet. We humans destroy everything we touch. Look at all the crap we dump in the ocean. I recycle. Which is no easy task for me. I have to take it all to a recycling center. BUT I do it gladly to try to help save our Earth.

Glad you figured out my typo, Debi. Yes, the only line I crossed was from Plano to Richardson county. No trips to Mexico.

It's been 10 years since Texas had such temperatures, and I think less snow and ice than this time. Hospitals generally have generators but apartment complexes and individual homes don't pretty much across the board. There is a lot of finger pointing, especially from the Governor, but it's basically an area being slammed by very unusual weather.

We still have full power at my daughter's, but I'm wondering when it will be a good idea to return to my apartment. It's supposed to be back into the 50's on Sunday but I'll need to hear from my facility that they have their power restored. I am lucky enough not to have to live with no lights or heat at night. Many Texans aren't that lucky.

I live west of Plano and Dallas, and just south of Arlington TX. Was without power for about 30 hours. Texas is the only state in the country with it's own power grid. It wasn't designed and isn't managed to take on -1 degree cold. We had rolling blackouts for awhile then one of the major power plants went down and parts of the grid went next. We are also having problems with natural gas lines (Most of our electrical plants use gas to make electricity).

As far as global warming is concerned -- The HUGE DIP in the cold air flow from the ARTIC coming past the northern U.S. and dipping into the rest of the country is due to the warming and melting of the ice cap. Warming is changing the Jet Stream, frying the coral reefs, flooding some islands completely off the map and other MAJOR weather problems. GLOBAL WARMING REAL! If you care about your grandkids better start finding ways to take less and give more to the plant they are going to live on.

I was wondering if you lost power Nancy V. Being as cold in Texas as it is in Alaska doesn't happen every winter. So much for global warming and melting icecaps this year! They can try and push that crap on us next year again. Glad you are safe and warm but I'm guessing you are in a neighboring county, not Mexico which would be the neighboring country to Texas. Just a typo, but I was picturing you with a Margarita.

We got a ton of snow and it's about 10 degrees here. Snow is not usually a threat to power loss here. It's freezing rain that usually comes in March and April that causes snapped power lines or trees so heavy with ice that branches break off and take down power lines. All snuggly and warm here. Hope the rest of you are the same.

My apartment complex in Plano, TX got so cold and dark I accepted my daughter and son-in-law's offer to come and scoop me up and take me to their house. Plano has a terrible problem with frozen power grids. I was getting power for about 1 1/2 hours followed by 6-7 hours of cold and dark. They live in a neighboring country to so far is managing to keep power going. I'm sitting in front of a warm fire with a couple of grandsons and feeling very lucky. And I brought my cat with me.

Good Morning and Happy Valentines Day. I got my presents yesterday. Got a note from our "kid" that she is getting married. So happy she finally found a man that loves her unconditionally. I know Bob is smiling down on them and happy too. Then my "son-in-law" got home from Japan last night and though the marines are sending them to North Carolina, they are now Both here for about a month. Gonna hug and squeeze as much as they will let me for that month. Some days are better than others and yesterday went way past the mark.
I am getting my covid shot on Monday even though I am still a bit uncomfortable about it. Well the way I am looking at it now is that if something goes wrong, I can for the first time in my life with great honesty tell everyone, See, I told you so......

Nice haul Lynda, about to go post more this morning so I am done well before Marcie's time slot. I know she likes to have that all to herself and I can live with it. Heck I have all week. Jan has made things easier for me to pull salts to sell. I do have to find some time to organize last years paperwork and get them that taxes done before I really start a heavy purge. I was going to use Nest Egg auctions, but recently heard some negatives and please don't use, so suggestions on auction houses would be appreciated, other than Evans of course.

Okay, novel over and yes some day soon I will be able to post pictures also. Told Mathew he fixes it or he is not going anywhere and the Marines ain't seen nothing like my Hungarian temper...... Hmmmmm. they really don't want to go. Not fixing my pictures could be a win win event..

Hugs to all and have a splendid day even if your heart hurts like mine.....

Thank you all for your kind wishes and good thoughts. It’s just not losing Don that’s bothering me, although his birthday would have been this month. It’s not isolation, I have many checking on me and communicating. And I love everyone who cares. My mood stems from the fact that one of my precious sons has cancer and has to decide on surgery. I wish I was 20 years younger so I could be with him and take care of him. I haven’t seen him since last March, and that is devastating. All my sons are so far away and I am alone. That is becoming very tough to take. Please pray for us and once in a while drop an encouraging thought. I will be all right, it’s

Oh my Lynda you are beginning to sound like me. Gots to tell ya, it dunt work.

Jan and I had a great time. She got me organized to where I can pick a shelf or box and go through it and make my decisions on what stays, what goes to auction and what I will try selling myself.

My son-in-law will be here Saturday and sounds like he plans to be at my computer on Sunday. Soooo if he can fix my picture grabbing problem, I might even try eBay again.

My Albert is doing great and Mackie, shown above, wants to know why no one seems to ask about him. I am trying to explain it to him.

Know there was more I wanted to answer to, but am on my phone and it only brings up half a page so extremely frustrating.

Nancy D, I love you and understand. We have not been without them long enough to not have it hit us every day. Hang on to your morning kitties. They are as essential for you as they are for us. My heart is with you and sending much love.

Good morning everyone. It is a very foggy day here in Fl. Surprised the school hadn't started late so school buses could see but...school's in session. Glad I didn't have to drive in it.

Nancy D. I think we would have to be Super Woman not to have some depression now. February is usually the darkest month of the year most places north of the equator. Throw in this year's isolation and loads of bad news and fears, and then add on some personal losses, and even Pollyanna would feel depressed. I'm an upbeat person, (read foolishly upbeat) and I had to work myself out of some feelings of depression recently. So depression is natural, but that doesn't mean you have to take up permanent residence there. Try to find the things that let you sooth it, and if you can't, talk to your doctor. After I lost my son, coincidentally in a February, I had to have some help.

Nancy D. You are allowed to be depressed or sad. We are social creatures and having to live alone or be alone is difficult. I'm sure you miss your husband and I know you miss the kids. I thank God for my Kids And grandkids. They are close and visit often but if they didn't, I'd be crying everyday.
I love that salt. The shape is pretty and the color is wonderful.
Nancy, you are on F B, have you tried to do P M FaceTime with the boys???. I just got done talking for about an hour to Jan. I get to see her face and it's like she is visiting me. You'll have a ball talking to your kids. Might just be the medicine for you to be happy. Love you Old Girl. (Lolololol from another 'old girl')

Funny that I'm not big on the color pink, but so many art glass salts are pink that I have lots of them. Wonder why that is. Maybe it's easy to make pink glass. I do like this little tulip salt with opal and pink stripes.

Such a funny little kitten, Nancy D. Those marks above his eyes look like heavy eyebrows and he will have a worried expression all his life, even when he's purring.

Debi, I ran across this one not identified correctly. I think you helped me with confirming it's a Webb. It's beautiful Burmese glass. I don't look around much now either. I did buy one of the pretty little EAPG salts mentioned as on eBay yesterday. I love some of the old designs though I resisted getting drawn into EAPG patterns in a big way because there are so many that I knew it would be a long search to develop a big collection.

Thanks Judy in Texas for mentioning the eBay listing, just described as EAPG pattern salt. Judy's post is not too far below, and last I looked there are still 2 of them for sale.

Susie, it is very rare that I look at a picture and think "he looks like such a sweet person" I know you will miss him. 90 some years is a pretty good life span. So sorry to hear about your dad Susie. I was very close to my dad and I still miss him. Mine was taken suddenly by heart attack at age 60 with no chance to say goodbye. In a way you were lucky to have had your dad so much longer. I sure wish I did. We both lost our dads in February. Take care of yourself. I used to be an avid Salt collector. I sold my collection 10 or so years ago to a dealer here in San Antonio but I don't remember her name. I was recently going thru much of my various collections paperwork and found some paperwork concerning salts. Among it was some of the associated price guides to 5,000 salts and other loose papers concerning salts. Also among the papers are three (average 40 pages) auction catalogs of "The (Karen) Hoovler Collection of Rare Salts" from 1999/90 that have photos and descriptions of the salts which were auctioned. If there is anyone in the greater San Antonio (TX) area that would want this paperwork, please let me know via this message site and I will make arrangements to get it to you. I would be more than willing to give it to you FREE for edification.

Maybe you are someone that might go to a salts gathering or a dealer who could make it available to another salt collecor. If there is no response by 15 March 2021, I will probably just throw it away. This downsizing is getting to be quite a chore.

Lynda - I love your old salt, sticker and all. I sold one like it and wish I hadn't since the bottom fit like a glove to another old master. It was like the bottoms were mirror images of each other! I call these salts "Bee Hive" salts because of the shape.
Debi - I know how you feel about technology. Zoom has helped our meetings, and Edge and Chrome are taking away. Firefox is good for viewing this website, but the saving and printing options seem restrictive to me. We shouldn't have to switch browsers to get the options we want. My salt for the day is inspired by the heavy old ones below. It's an old one in a sort of sofa shape. William Yeoward copied it and named it June. It's for sale on his site for $220. I like the old one better, even with a few chips on the edges. I've also had his Amber and Cecily salts.

Larry's friend had two old keyboards but the one that looked promising did not have the right type of connection. The other did plug into a USB port but was so old that absolutely nothing happened. It was from an old Compaq computer. Anyone remember that name? I finally took the plunge and unplugged the printer from the computer and plugged it into the laptop. It looked like the laptop was accepting the driver information but at the end said it was unsuccessful. I tried it anyway and it worked. Computers don't even know if they work or not. So for now we have a way to print the labels. I am thankful that Larry and I are both physically healthy but mental health counts for a lot and when he's impatient about computers working right it becomes my problem. I keep telling him I don't know that much about them, but it's always up to me to figure it out. Here's a small example that to me was a no brainer, but to Larry my laptop was broken too. He was trying to correct the spelling on a couple eBay listing titles because the G and H keys were not working on his keyboard. He was using my old laptop and could not insert the letters with the laptop either. First thing that came to me was that he was at his maximum limit of letters for the title line and that was the problem. He abbreviated a couple words and then was able to add the letters.
