Hi All... YES.. We DO have ARMED Guards at all the entrances to our Retirement Community !!! That's me in my little scooter... I have to wear a "sun suit"... and head covering... I'm apparently taking a med that makes me very sensitive to the sun ???? Sooo I have to cover up completely !!! FUN...especially in our 100+ degree days...

Mary...Olen has been using a CPAP for years...It's helped him greatly !!! He also uses a "So-Clean" every day to keep the tubes and mask clean... helps to not have to clean everything every day... what a mess !!! I wish you as much success as he has had !!!

This "second wave" of COVID seems to be worse than the first... everyone PLEASE wear your mask... and PLEASE keep safe !!!
HUGS and BLESSINGS !!!! PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY !!!

Thankfully not the main salad bowl, but individual size.....
Oh Jane, I have never seen that kitty. So sweet and just the right coloring.
Pretty much a question I have been asking myself lately Nancy D.
Not sure what today will be, have been basically napping for a long time, but last night I registered a good bit over 9 hours and with my CPAP. Today will be interesting......

Now is not the time to be complacent, so thank you for the reminders, Lynda.

And thank you Nancy for another fun kitty!

Jane, your kitty salt falls under the, I-just-gotta category! Very sweet!

   Good morning everyone.
Jane, Love your kitty. How unique.
I still feel like poop. Darn sinuses.
Kids still here. They take good care of me. Sweet babies.
Stay safe, wash your hands. I'm sure It is a pain to hear me say that all the time. The virus is encapsulated with a thin layer of fat. Hand washing in hot H2O melts the fat and kills the virus. So between hand washing and masks (social distancing), my friends can stay safe. We are living in a different and strange world.

Good morning everyone. Hope this day brings good things your way.
Love the blue stained Debi, Thought my heart is with the pure cobalts. It is interesting and different.
I agree the 5" is a bit big, but they are beautiful and Susie you have no idea how many times I have received something very small when it looked so big in the pictures. And the worst is when I receive a salad bowl......

My blue stained salt might have been done experimentally, or someone decided to spiffy up a clear glass salt they had. But I don't know what they would have used to make it permanent. It's not just a paint that flakes off but it doesn't exactly look like a professional job either. Love it anyway.

Susie: 5" does seem a bit large even for one of those boat or oval pedestals. Sweetmeats is a term used for smaller dishes. I think that's just an old term for candy dishes.

PJ, my senior independent living facility in Plano, TX has also tightened the rules here, no family or other visitors allowed in but we don't have guards, just a front desk with check in procedures for aides, therapists and such. I appreciate their efforts to keep us safe--no virus cases so far.
the number of cases in the surrounding area is still growing.

Lynda, thanks for letting me know yours is green too. the angle in your group photo made it hard to tell. I said French because that's in the description in H&J. Many new sources of information have been discovered since that book was published. Heacock published several corrections, but I haven't explored those.

Debi, could someone have added stain to your pedestal below? Or it might have been done experimentally. It may be one of a kind. And it's lovely.

Gosh Susie P, I still think that's a salt. I'm thinking 4" with that type bowl is acceptable. I saw the blue one you got. Both are beautiful.
Good morning everybody. Kitty cat says mouse for breakfast. Anyone got a recipe?
Everybody stay safe. PJ...armed guards... that is a bit much to me. Scary even. But you are safe. The way things are going, maybe not such a bad idea. You won't have rioters or louters.

Hi there PJ. Glad to hear you and Olen are doing well. I wish my salt was a Daum but it's not. Just another of that type of Czech salts. I'm not saying every one out there is Czech though. You know how companies and countries copied each other. Nancy V and Lynda's are shown on that page. So is the first round one I posted. My other three are not on that page so maybe they were made elsewhere, but it's definitely not a Daum. Maybe someday I'll get one but I'm not exactly shopping right now. Saw a gorgeous one with violets online when I was looking for pictures of Daums for H&J 1-34, but the price tag is $2500. Don't think so!

We lost ONE independent living resident... and the "normal amount" of health care residents... the staff are really taking extreme care of us... we all HATE the isolation but... Lynda LaLonde, here is the salt I asked about on the Novelties page. It's H&J 52, described as French c. 1890. The one pictured there has a blue design on both long sides with gilding as well. Mine has a different medallion, gilded flower on a green background. I don't know if this is just a slightly different pattern or a completely different salt. It's quite small, just over 1 inch wide and about 2" long.

I didn't combine my Smith books but I did put new ring spines on a couple. I have mine scanned in PDF and on my computer. Getting worse every day here in Texas too, Lynda. I'm bearing up o.k., lucky to live in a senior independent living complex where almost everything is provided so I don't have to go out. Still depressing to see no end in sight. I dread the possible 4th of July weekend partying, with the heat driving lake side gatherings. The young don't feel vulnerable, and the go on to spread the contagion.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the following information about funeral arrangements for Ed Bowman which has been shared by his daughter.
The funeral will be all in one day, on Wednesday, July 1st. Viewing will be from 12 to 3:00 p.m., with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at the Walker-Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier, IN. They would like everyone to wear masks and social distance. I have Ann's home address if you would like it to send a symp. card. Just give us a call as I don't want to put the address out on the internet. I am sure the funeral home has a web site where you could share condolences with the family.

They make me sleep all right! Last night at 5:00 AM I woke up and had to go to the bathroom. I walked in - and went right down! And the next day I'm so loopy I hardly know what I'm doing. So sorry you can’t see your Son right now, know that is so hard!

You have been such an inspiration to me with your daily notes and smiles- thank you! Big hugs to you!

Ed was such an encouraging, knowledgeable collector and friend, always willing to answer questions! Gary and I went to his house when he was going to move, and bought several cabinets from him, as well as some lovely salts! His wonderful family wrapped all the shelves for us, helped get everything ready to go, And then helped Gary load the Traverse! I often smile when looking through those cabinets! I read that if anyone goes from like Texas, Florida... a couple of other states, to N Y, N J... They have to quarantine. This virus is getting worse not better.

When I was selling a lot, a collector friend (no name) suggested I could do some ruby staining. Of course I never did. Nice patterns with stain were selling for $300-500 when we thought they were rarer than they turned out to be. Not long ago I replaced a fan and diamond in both amber and ruby for my collection for about $30 each. That's quite a drop.

Jan, about the XLCR (King's Crown) pattern salt, ruby stain comes in thin to thick shades of red and might be worn or someone did a homemade job of staining. With so many glass paints and enamels in craft stores now, it would not surprise me that someone might "stain" salts to get a higher price for them. Show me the flower bottom salt. Don't think I've seen one.

Lynda, King's Crown is an AKA name for XLCR (or Excelsior) pattern. It was made by Adams & Company and catalog images of the individual and master are on the website.

Nice one Susie. Has anyone got a picture of the Master Kings Crown? I don't have it and have no idea what it looks like.

Yes it is Susie! Can you please take more pictures of it? Besides the one you already posted I need a side view (profile), top and bottom. So glad someone has it.

Don’t feel bad, Debi. I had to really scour those auction lots. The ruby flashed is not acorns-which I want too!- it’s flowers. I have a plain one, will show a pic of it tomorrow. But had you seen orange on any salt????

Yes, Lynda, I got

I looked through that auction and I spotted an H&J 437 in the group of blue salts, so it does exist. If someone who posts or lurks here gets that lot of salts I plead with you to post some pictures of if for the H&J Project.

Jan, I went through that auction twice and didn't see those ruby flashed salts. I must be going blind.

Jan, that looks like H&J 2821 with the acorns in the bottom and the acorns are ruby flashed. That's another salt I'd like to get. Don't care about the ruby flashing though.

Another new one on me. At first I thought it was lighting or something, but see the red on the other salt?
