The gal at the garage sale (it was on the way home) had some Fenton she'd price really high, but the amberina she only had a dollar each on them. some even had the Fenton logo, but I only needed the vase

Yes, Jane, the last time I'd been in an antique store or at a show was the last weekend in February. None of those were anything special, but the card holders are getting used. Missed one piece, I was trying to figure out what to call it, finally decided mini vase--toothpick--salt, also found a little Fenton vase in amberina

I read a little information on baby deer too, trying to figure out how old it might be. Newborns are 8-10 pounds and that's what this little one was. I read that females move their babies after birth because the birthing area with blood and fluids could attract predators. If the female is healthy and well fed she usually would have had twins and put each one in a different spot. We never saw a second baby though. I don't understand why she never fed it all day but did keep checking on it. I hope it is alive. I hope mama found it and fed it. We didn't have any choice but to move it out of the street. It would have been run over for sure.

Good morning, everyone.
Debi, the fawn is lovely. I just read an article explaining that mama deer have babies in strange places, but are always near, and keep coming back to feed them. They also move the fawns daily and people shouldn’t touch them. But, having put her fawn in the street would be dangerous, so I’m sure you did the right thing. Hope the baby makes it. Please let us know if there is an update.

Debi, that baby looks so velvety smooth. Just beautiful. So glad you and Larry were there to assist! My friends had just moved into their new house. Next morning, they found a big rip in the screened-in porch. There lay a fawn, mama had birthed it right there. She eventually retrieved her baby and off they went

Update on the baby fawn. Mama came to collect it and it got up and followed her across the lawn, then didn't want to cross the street. Then it went into the middle of the street and collapsed. It is so small I was afraid a car coming down the street would not see it so I went up to it thinking if I approached it, it would get up and run but it didn't. Larry came out and picked it up and carried it to the lawn across the street. Mama was watching from a distance so pretty sure she knew where it was but didn't come back. Larry thought someone walking a dog might see it so he took it farther back to the woodline behind the houses across the street. I sure hope it makes it. It's just weak. It was probably born yesterday or last night but obviously wasn't fed all day long.

Lynda: Some of those etched pedestals may be designs we need but I can't make them out in that group picture.

I have added Jan's salt and updated some information and measurements that Joan originally posted with her pictures when we worked on those pedestal pages. Unless we find some of the exact etched designs I'll have to use duplicates of some. When Joan posted she told me which ones were exact matches as far as measurements goes. They were probably the same maker with different etched designs.

Before we start on the square shapes I'd like to complete the next Pedestal page. I already have some for that page photographed and added, but there are many more I need. The page I'm referring to is H&J 2984-3011. We don't have that much activity going on here so let's just post them here. I still need the following numbers: 2984 through 2989, 2994 through 2998, 3002, 3004, 3005, 3008, 3009 and 3011.

Time to get back into picture mode. One profile, one top view, one bottom view, and one slight angle view (that mimics the H&J picture) and measurements - widest diameter or point to point and height.

Jan: We did skip over several pages with square and faceted salts when we did the pedestals. Maybe we should do those and fill in that void. You, me, Lynda and Judy from Texas are probably the only people who still have those common ones. If you guys feel like working on those pages, I'm game. It will help in the fact that we have no new topics anyway. I hope this new version of Publisher is as easy to work with. It'll make me get used to using it. I haven't done anything except open it and look at it once. It should be basically the same.

For other people, maybe we could throw in a colored page like beginning with H&J 1-34. I think we could fill in that page pretty well too. So what do you all think about that?

Hope everyone had a good and SAFE Holiday yesterday. I spent a part of the day, going through MORE boxes from storage(from the early 90's). I keep "finding" things that I'd forgotten that I had! Yesterday it was several Table Salts(that just take up too much space, to display!) One, that I decided was TOO NICE to put back in a box, is the SNAIL Table(Master) Salt. It's not pictured in the H.J. book or the Compendium. My pattern glass book doesn't mention Snail being made in this size. Is it SPECIAL or not? If it needs to be seen, I'll get a photo taken(when I "get around" to photographing some of my "finds!) I've "found" several things that I wonder WHY I Packed Away 27 years ago( I KNOW WHY, I didn't have space to display them!! I've also found things that are going to the Goodwill, that I WONDER WHY I SAVED THEM! Such is LIFE!

Lynda, in that group of unpacked salts, I see the only match I've ever seen of my apricot colored salt, ruffle and needing a stand. I posted mine recently in opalescent, etc. I suppose you might call it rust colored though it's too rich a color to call just rust.

Lynda, at least the suns shining today. I spent the afternoon making risers out of craft foam for my longest curio shelves. They turned out pretty well, but why, when you rearrange things, they take up so much more room???

Debi, Family search is totally free. It's the LDS site, and has a lot of digitized records from the Library in Salt Lake. Some records have a key above the camera icon, which means it has to be viewed at a library associated with the SLC library. Check your local library to see if they are one of those. It's a great resource.

Good morning to everyone. Thought I would share a doggie photo for a change. My town has always had a Memorial Day parade. Of course, canceled this year. But, our Volunteer Firemen and our Police are going to parade tomorrow through all the streets. We are asked to watch from our homes. They also held a competition for best decorated bikes and houses. So uplifting in this wonderful town that I have lived in for 62 years.
Hope you all are doing well.

Linda: I am only signed up on Ancestry. Other sites offer "free" accounts but after a point you have to pay. I'm not paying for more than one Genealogy account. Too many fees for everything! I have found a couple people I keep in contact with. We have distant family in common and have access to each other's trees. Just made another surname connection this week. It's interesting.

Good afternoon all you salters. Debi, so glad you stay busy. I do remember your Jensens. They do comand some peasos. I think Jan hit it on the head, when you have so many it is hard to find what you don't have. How Susie P comes up with her finds is a mystery to me but God bless her. I keep haunting her to sell to me but no luck there. Sometimes I just don't give a fig about buying. I have to get back into the project here. I've had these little pedestal out for months for page 150, H/J. At least that gives me pleasure. Mary has a few for me so I guess I'll pay her and get them here.
I'm going to my daughters for dinner. They were here yeaserday. Those 2 girls can talk your ears off. I just love it.

I imagine we all go through salt slumps and for different reasons. I get my dander up about shipping fees, or I just plain can’t find anything so I quit looking, or good old depression sets in and I have no focus for anything. I suppose it’s more common in long-time collectors?? Well, that’s my two cents!!

Lynda: Just not interested in buying a common glass just because I don't have it for $5-10 plus postage when all I can see happening to them is they are put in a box lot of 50 salts and sell for $20. I do watch for a few Fostoria and from other companies I don't have but have not seen them. The salts I bought last year mostly had pretty hefty price tags. Four were George Jensen sterling with cobalt enamel, one blue and white spongeware, one old blue and white Delft trencher style and then a $20 blue and white double. Total for those 7 salts was about $1350 and I got back about $425 for the 2 duplicates so I'm still doing my part in buying, just not in great quantity. LOL I've been back into Ancestry for a couple years now so between that and playing some computer games I keep busy.

Of course, there aren't many very attractive salts on the general open market now. First they disappeared from flea market shelves because sellers discovered eBay. I'm not sure what caused the bottom to drop out of prices there in the first decade of the 21st century, maybe a combination of the economy and an aging base of salt collectors. The collections at Evans are heavy with attractive makers and types, lots of lacies sometimes. I think what market is left is heavily in the NW. But what do I know?

James weighed all of 6#, definitely couldn’t get food for himself. He is 13# now and the vet is happy with him. Libbie is not a rescue, although I did try to find a rescue Asian type cat. So sweet, Jan. You saved James life if he was declawed, he wouldn’t have survived. And to adopt a rescue, wonderful. So nice they love each other. I had one cat named Mittens when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, she was hit by a car. My mom had a cat for years and I often took care of her. One of my boys was very allergic to animals and we had to give up our dog, Prince, to a friend. But I love all animals.

Nancy, James was a stray, if you can believe it. I tried everything I could think of to find his owners. He is neutered and all 4 feet are declawed... I wanted a pal for him for when I am away, and found Libbie on the internet. I had to interview To get her, including a thorough description of James and his personality. Her breeder thought they were a good match. Looks like she was right!!

She is so sweet! Thank you, Nancy. He got where he needs to be right now - in a "real" hospital. They found out he is anemic and he has some kind of a UTI and they are doing some other tests. Once they get him straightened out they will find a rehab for him.

Someone call his from the hospital and told him he would be there for a while. Then they will try to get him back into Encompass or Wellspan, but it may not be possible to get in where he wants. They will, though, get him into a good place.

Jane, My heart goes out to you both. I know as I get older I don't tolerate events like this. Too much to deal with at our age. I also do not like to be away from the comforts and security of my home. So I would imagine that is dificult for Phil. Still, I don't understand them sending him home as he obviously wasn't ready. Covid is no excuse. But they recognize it now and hopefully he'll get the help he needs. You have a lot of friends pulling for you. Bless you and Phil. Take good care of yourself.

He wasn't doing that Lynda. He was here alone waiting for the paramedics to come and he was scared because we didn't know what was happening. When he fell he could have broken his neck again. The balloon in the catheter deflated for some reason, and it fell out. They said that happens from time to time. He's in a room at the hospital now. Their PT is working with him and said he needs a lot more intensive therapy. They are trying to get him back to Encompass. Failing that they will get him into the Wellspan system. So - that's where things stand now.

Good morning everyone. We had an 80+ day yesterday. After a week of 30 degrees in the morning, it was bliss. Even though I can’t get out, I was able to get fresh air by opening my door. Fortunately, someone put the screen in early in the week.

Nancy D, he ate all the marshmallows, good afternoon to you.
Hi everyone else. Take care and have a good weekend.
Jane my Dear, Phil really needs his meds evaled. A person does not pull out his cath and yell out in the middle of the night of no reason. Something is up. This is not his normal behavior. It can't hurt to have the nurse or Dr look at this. Please

He's home. He didn't hurt himself at all. The nurse is here now "admitting" him to their service. A pt should be here tomorrow. I didn't get to talk to him much. I had to go to the store and get him pretzels and soda.

Lynda, Lovely salt - I like the old molded ones that someone took the time to embellish with some cutting. Sometimes you can see the cutting going up and down as though this was given to the apprentice. I think it adds to the charm.

Jane, My best to you and Phil as you transition to having him at home and in a wheelchair. Hugs to you.

PS - When I first signed up on this site I lived in GA. I live in PA now so just consider the GA a flash from the past or a typo. HA, HA. I am so glad that the sign in is keeping the riffraff away. Good idea. Thanks!

The transport service is picking Phil up at 3:30 to bring him home. The medical supply company just called. They're delivering his wheelchair between 10:00 and 1:00 so I guess things are working out.

Good afternoon everyone. Lolololol, Nancy D this baby kitty is just sweet.
I have to add a salt. I assume this is English. Has the lemon squeezer base. I am unpacking my stored salt. Like descovering a whole new bunch of salts. A lot of times I am talking to myself. " Oh, look at that Lynda, that's a good one." I talk to myself a lot.

Night before last we were two degrees above the record low for that date (25, record is 23), I missed the weather at noon so I don't know about this morning. I haven't been brave enough to do any garden shopping, maybe in a week or so, and I'm not buying very much. Here it's wise not to put anything out until the 20th or later.
Since I was such a klutz the other day I haven't played with my salts, other than finding spots for the new ones from Nina. I have a lot of duplicates I'd like to pass on to someone else, but I'm not sure I'm willing to do the FB buy & sell route.
Thanks for the nice comment Don.

Thanks everyone! Hi Debi! I know i planted my annuals a bit early- cabin fever here, LOL! but that hard freeze set a record here! The night before I went out and dug back up all the annuals; they are currently still in the garage, and used every old sheet and table cloth, plus my big empty pots, to cover as many blooming perennials as I could, only lost a couple; tonight is supposed to be the last night in the
30s, fingers crossed!! Not buying anything else for a week or two, so much work to try to cover, wow!!! They say we are now in a warming trend???? Yes, please!!!!

Happy Birthday Susie! Hey, how did your plants and flowers do after the cold spell? Hope you didn't lose anything. Up here, we don't do any annual flowers until Memorial Day or later. We had sleet and snow last week. You are one climate zone warmer than us, but it's still iffy weather-wise in May.
