NWIBL Teams Play at the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Stadium in 2011.

The summer drive to Volcanoes Stadium is so easy. From Portland, jump on I-5 south, enjoy the sun and cruse for about 50 minutes and there you are: great baseball, wonderful shopping within walking distance, and yes PGE sports fans, actual on site parking at the stadium.

You get everything from the Volcanoes baseball stadium and NWIBL baseball experience: an extremely affordable, family-friendly environment, easy to reach location, and a history of consistent WINNING baseball. We all appreciate that the economy has its challenges here in Oregon, which is all the reason to come to Sckavone and Walker Stadiums to watch baseball as admission is still free. Games played at Volcanoes Stadium charge fraction of the price it would be to see the Mariners, Seahawks or Blazers play, you get a close up, unfiltered look into the life of semi-professional baseball, plus true community-centric promotions, great food and beverages, in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The triple A Beavers are gone but baseball is still being played this summer in Portland, come see over 200 games played by the best local ball players . The Northwest Independent Baseball League has 16 teams playing 200 games in local stadiums More about Portland Baseball.

Hey Duane, You look like the guy w/the insights into the NWIBL. I'm a 52 y/o former ball player with a desire to play again. It has been 20 years for me, but I'm not exactly falling apart yet. I'm moving to Portland and wanted to get a litmus test out there for whether this is a league where I might fit. I don't see anyway that I'm ready for any tryout by early April and I travel alot (during the week) for my job. Just wondering what ideas/thoughts you have about whether this might be a fit for me or if there's something else in town / nearby that would be a better fit. Thanks, Daryl (response appreciated at dranwxman@gmail.com)

Hey Duane, have you ever thought about doing a baseball clinic for the younger baseball kids? All the money goes to JDRF 2010 Walk to Cure Diabetes or something like that.
