Our friend and riding buddy Mike Doss had close to the worst of all luck on Thursday June 13th when a tree fell on his vehicle while driving to work. Mike was sent to Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mike suffered extensive injuries which include fracturing some vertebrae in his neck, a severe concussion, left and right collarbone fractures, dislocation of both shoulders, and a broken nose.

Mike had surgery on Friday June 14th which lasted 6 1/2 hours which included realigning his spine and putting 8 screws and 2 rods in his neck. On Saturday Mike spent the day on the Neuro floor at BRMC. He was able to take his first walk on that day. On Sunday June 16th Mike became unresponsive early that morning. Thankfully the rapid response team was able to get him to wake up and from there he was rushed to ICU where he spent the next two days. On Tuesday June 18th he was transferred up to the Intermediate Care Unit. Mike finally went home on Wednesday June 19th.

Mike continues to have partial memory loss and some numbing in his left arm. Mike is praying and expecting to make a full recovery, but it will not be a short or easy one. He will require lots of rehab and therapies. While Mike is recovering, he of course will be out of work. We are expecting weeks or months. Mike requires substantial assistance and his wife Donna has been off work since the accident, providing that care. At this point her return date to work is unsure and there may need to be some hired help for a while. Mike of course will miss all his income for some time and his wife is missing substantial amounts of hers as she takes care of him. This family is thanking and praising God for the miracles he's done in Mikes life over the past week. By setting up this account we are just trying to lessen the financial burdens that come along with accidents such as Mike’s. Any and all help would certainly be a blessing to them. If you have questions or would like more information you can contact his wife, Donna (DJ) Doss at cornettd41@yahoo.com or any of his cycling buddies you may know.
