I'm working on the costs to do a Cruise Down Whittier Blvd on our free day of activities, May 16th. I'm only at the beginning stages but here is the vision. I'll have a luxury Coach with an ice chest for Beer and Wine pick up those that want to go. I'll have it there in the parking lot at the QM by 10:30am, May 16th. Those wanting to participate will pay the fee and board the bus. The bus will travel up the 605 frwy to interstate 5 eastbound to the Valley View exit. Lunch will be at the Northwoods Inn. (Not sure if the cost of the activity will include lunch but if it doesn't , you can buy your own lunch there) After lunch, the bus will then proceed northbound on Valley View and turn right on Telegraph Rd for a brief stop at Monte Vista HS (Becktel or the Sherriff's training academy - not sure.) Then the bus will continue northbound on Valley View, left on Victoria and right on Mills. After cruising by the old location of Zesto's, Stater Bros Mkt and the 5 and dime store, It will visit the Calhi Campus for a brief stop for pictures. Continuing north on Mills to Lambert, left on Lambert to cruise the old locations of the Holly House, Esko's Market and Rudy's Mexicatesen. Then north on (I can't remember the street that T-boned Whittier Blvd across from Bob's Big Boy where Daniels Goodyear tires was located) that street to Whittier Blvd. Turn right and cruise down the blvd to Whittwood Ctr. After some picture taking, we'll head back eastbound on Whittier Blvd past the Quad to Painter, go north past Whittier College to Philadelphia, turn left to Greenleaf then left on Greenleaf past the Roxy and Wardman and back down to Whittier Blvd where Urich's gas station was. Then we'll turn right and head under the 5 points bridge and go past the old location of Skateland, Fed C. Nelles reform school, the Whittier walk-in theatre then back on the 605 headed to the QM.

Again, I'm just at the beginning stages of organizing this. If no one else is interested in this, I'm probably going to do it in my car but my thought was it could be a great way to spend some time reminiscing some old times we shared. At this point, I'm just looking for some encouragement to continue with my idea.

Planning on attending the 70th Birthday Bash then use this forum to throw out ideas and organize activities for the free day on May 16th. Hope others will check in and you all can start communicating. If the Committee does put something together it will be posted on this site.

i just want to say aloha, hi, to all my classmates, whoever looks at this page. In case no one has said it to you today, i want you to know that you are loved and that your life matters! You are a precious and valuable person, and there are some people that you have influenced in a way that no one else would have been able to. If you ever feel down, depressed or useless, just remember that you were formed in love, that the Creator knew you even before you were formed in your mother's womb, and that He has a plan for you that is good, a plan to prosper you (not financially in particular) and will never allow you to go or be in places that He isn't there with you. Be encouraged, be blessed, and be well :-) and no matter what you believe in, God is Love, bottom line <3 truly, all we need is love !

About the vets list, Danny and I joined the Navy together, I was not a Marine in the true meaning of a Marine, but I was attached to the Marines for 3 years out of my 4 year hitch. I have a great respect for Marines. I lived with them, ate with them, beat the bush with them and died with them.

wow, i just saw Bobby's post about Tommy Moses death, it was such a surreal feeling, a feeling of loss, even tho i haven't seen him in numbers beyond counting, i felt like i was in a little bit of a time warp for a few seconds, just remembering his freckled face and little bit of mischief he always seemed to have brewing. As a child, he was a delight, i don't have much memories of him as we grew up. but that childhood remembrance was priceless and deep. God bless his family.
