Not really a comment on the last issue, but a request for an article for the next issue.

I saw -- and was saddened by -- an obituary in the Monday 5/2 NYTimes for Phillip Katz, age 37, inventor of file-compression software (PKZip) and founder of PKWare, Inc. The obit says Mr. Katz died in a Milwaukee hotel room on April 14 from complications of alcoholism.

Can anyone give me more info about Katz, development of zip file technology, and related topics?

Thank you,
Susan M.

RE: "Dot.Republicans" section 'grab' is allowed, then what is "legitimately" next? How about a 'handle' for a caucus on narcotics interdiction:
