American Bittern ? Seen at eaglewood pond, s.lumpkin st. We have great blue and green herons quite often. I thought it was a juvenile green heron, but web images match Bittern. Size of a football. Stout body and neck. Bill slightly down-turned, faint yellow. Legs too. Color brown with white stripes. My question is,are bitterns spotted in this area? Audubon says uncommon migratory, but I knew instantly this is new on my life list.

I'm doing a project and would like to know the most common birds in the Athens area if anyone can help me out that'd be awesome! (also what birds were common and disappeared or left would be very helpful!)

Can we work on fixing this weird html text issue? The emails are coming in more frequently.
