/m836 I'm another Wichita CFS clerk that started with USPS in 2000 at the Wichita REC site, then went to CFS in 2009, then went back to the REC in 2012 when our CFS closure was announced, and was lucky enough to land a station job just before our REC closure was announced in 2013. I've always been curious what things are like at the remaining CFS sites and I'm glad you're still here. When they closed us down, they said they wanted them all closed within four years, but obviously that didn't happen. How many CFS sites are left now?

Also, does this site have a moderator? Can we get this set up so only postal employees can log in here? And can you get rid of those porn site ads?

Seems like no one visits this site any more. When I found it, I thought it would be a nice place to exchange information between working-class employees. It would be nice to be able to talk together and discuss what each of us needs/uses to do the job. I've found that in many cases what stations need or want is just the opposite of what a cfs clerk would do, but management won't do the paperwork to try to change it. Too bad this site doesn't have a good cross section of CFS/RFS/Pars/FPARS employees to work things out. Oh, and I asked the union steward once, but they won't help either. I also heard that RFS clerks who are supposed to be forwarding parcels at stations are often sent out to help with deliveries instead, so they keep sending parcels to CFS. We can't do them anymore, and don't get credited if we do. Someone at *some* level needs to talk and figure how to get things working again so we can keep the Post Office running, right?

Charlton: Not sure if you still visit this site, but we got the KS & MO mail.... we don't get to do parcels anymore though. And if you look at the other post I just did, we have to let PARS/FPARS at the mail first. We get newspapers and scraps more than anything. It's still the best job, but they still keep saying we are going to be phased out too. I think when we are, the USPS will end up going out of business. Like 030 and all the other manual units, the USPS can't function without us. Sorry, though, that we took your jobs in the process. Most of us will likely retire when our CFS goes out.

the stuff I find sad is that we aren't supposed to touch the mail we used to do until it's obviously failed on machines over & over again. Our manning has been cut, rumors of closure abound, and the mail we are allowed to process has often been ruined. There have been times all I get is the address block, just enough to process for acs'ing the changes, and sometimes it comes out to be something that should have forwarded. Lately I get mail that someone has put a simple computer generated address label on - like it came out of a word processor. Working in that manner doesn't tell the mailer anything, so whoever is doing that will have to keep doing it until the subscription runs out. I wish there was a site where we could all communicate and figure out what's supposed to happen and why among ourselves, but not sure how well that would work.

Wisegal: as near as I know you still need 3200's for FPARS on RTS flats, but for us it has always been up to the station to put endorsements (NMR, UTF, ANK, etc.) We go by those, written on the mailpiece.

Hi All CFS Clerks, how are FPARS supposed to be prepared now? I saw on FB that we no longer are supposed to use the form 3200 for RTS flats. Is this true?

On IdeaSmart: Input COA’s immediately into COARS at acceptance unit (please vote on it if you agree or add your comments)

Problem: COA’s often take several days to be input into the system after acceptance.

Improvement: Revise COARS system or allow access to current program to allow COA’s to be input at office of acceptance.

Benefits: Eliminates delay of COA processing and machine interception can begin immediately. This eliminates holding time in affected office, delayed pieces (waiting on COA to be processed), and is generally input by those with knowledge of respective delivery point affected (allowing needed corrections to be made immediately).

Proposed Solution :

Improvement: Revise COARS system or allow access to current program to allow COA’s to be input at office of acceptance.

Benefits: Eliminates delay of COA processing and machine interception can begin immediately. This eliminates holding time in affected office, delayed pieces (waiting on COA to be processed), and is generally input by those with knowledge of respective delivery point affected (allowing needed corrections to be made immediately). Also, reduces downstream processing and allows mail to immediately be forwarded.
