The historical part is definitely lacking. I want to know who started this fad and is someone making millions of dollars on copyright infringements? I have ideas for stickers but need to learn the best way to market them. Not Calvin stickers.

For some reason, my po-mo mind wants to see a "Hobbes wizzing on Calvin", kind of as a reaction to these artistic abominations.

I mean, it works on so many levels.

I've got to admit, the first time I saw one of those commercials for Dodge Ram pickups that had an animated ram attacking a Calvin-peeing clone, I laughed my ass off.

I agree with Sazerac, I always took the Calvin car stickers as sort of a genetic marker for idiocy. Also popular in this neck of the woods (southern Louisiana--flyover country) are the across the top of the windscreen stickers that mock the 'no fear' stickers: around here, they like 'Ain't Skeered.' I'd never, ever pay real money for such a decal, but if I did, I'd want one that said, '<--this space intentionally left blank-->'

Article seems a little short on research ... all my Calvin and Hobbes books are at home, but I'm pretty sure a few of the images he says or implies are fakes are taken directly from the comic. Calvin picking his nose was from when he had his school pictures taken (i think). And I don't think the one with Calvin selling life for 5c is fake either. Anyway, where's the original picture in there? I'm convinced all the peeing stickers started with one actual drawing of Calvin with his back turned and looking over his shoulder with an evil grin ... with his pants pulled up. :-P

I think these stickers can come in really handy for dating, as in, "Never date anyone who has a Calvin peeing sticker on his car."
