Bro, with FERS I believe retiring at 62 the multiple is 1.1 times years of service. Hence, before age 62 30 years pays 1.0 x 30 years service = 30%. vs after age 62 1.1 x 30 = 33%.
Myself with my military time , I got 38.5%.
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

To answer me you asked one question and called me three names. You shoulda just let that go. During criminal interviews I often told the suspect, "when you find yourself in a hole, quit digging." You can quote me in that.

" If a FERS employee, you'll wind up with a Pittance, for a monthly check."

Early out authority eliminates those penalties for FERS employees. But not for CSRS.

I appreciate the Updated info, as frankly I have very little understanding of the FERS retirement system. If I'm not in it, I don't research it.

But I sure will give my opinion disguised as fact.

Boss, I agree with you. For most FERS employees an early out leaves you with not enough to enjoy a fruitful retirement. You need at least thirty years in to make it worth it. Don’t forget, FERS employees don’t get a COLA On their annuity or supplement until age 62 when supplement gets discontinued and becomes SS at age 62. No COLA on annuity until age 62. All incentives for FERS employees is to stay to age 62 for many reasons. You also get 10 percent extra if you stay to age 62. TSP compounds for several additional years too.

But would you not agree, that a FERS employee with the requisite 20-25 years' service, who takes such an early out, really won't get Squat for a monthly check? Especially not if he/she takes a Spousal Annuity option, then has Insurance (health, life) and taxes witheld? And wouldn't he forfeit his SS Offset (a crucial part of the FERS retirement system)? And that his need for a FAT TSP is even greater? I'd hate to cheer anyone on, into a bad situation here.

Eligibility Qualifications
To qualify for early retirement, employees must have at least 20 years of service and be 50 years of age or older, or 25 years of service at any age. For employees in the Civil Service Retirement System, the annuity is reduced 2 percent for each year workers are un- der age 55.

/m58244 Any EO offered to Carriers WILL come with Penalties for deficits in Age and Years Of Service. If a FERS employee, you'll wind up with a Pittance, for a monthly check. Better have Maxed Out your TSP: You're gonna need it. Even at that, I'd say: "Doubtful".

Early out has best shot of happening that I’ve seen in a long time. But it won’t happen until after elections in November. I say a better than 50/50 shot in 2021.

If you’re old enough and can’t go, that’s your fault.

And if you think Donnie’s crew is going to do anyone, especially fed workers, a favor you are deluded.
