Jack, If you use longer "needle noise" pliers, to remove barb-less fly
you don't even have to touch or take the fish out of the water.
We can do it in under 1 min.

We have a fungus problem on our fish at Rock Lake which will eventually kill the fish.
Wet Your Hands Before Touching Fish Trout are not typically the most hardy fish. If you plan to release the fish be sure to wet your hands prior to touching it. By touching the fish out of water, and with a dry hand—you are removing the protective slime from the surface of the fish. This slime is a barrier on the exterior of the fish to keep bacteria and fungus out. If this slime is removed the fish will very likely die of a fungus. Most of us have had fish tanks while we were growing up. Do you remember that white growth that would form on the fish once in a while? If you recall the fish would inevitably end up dead without treatment almost immediately. Well.. these trout don’t have anyone to provide them with medication. A very easy way to wet your hands is by tapping them on the bottom of your net. This is especially helpful when you are fishing from a high sided driftboat, or a tipsy canoe. This one small step requiring minimal effort from you can go a long way to save a trouts life during your catch and release fishing trips

Hi neighbors, We are having an open house today at 155 Jed Smith Rd. from 1-4.
If you know anyone that is looking to live in the neighborhood, it's a nice starter home.
We just had the floors refinished, and we also are having some snacks and refreshments, if you would just like to visit.
The few pictures on Zillow were taken while the floor guys were there, we're hoping to put some better ones up soon.

We are having a problem with a squirrel that's disturbing a blue bird couple that nesting in one of our nest boxes.

Does anyone have some smooth, slippery, bendable plastic material (or something similar) that I could use to make an upside-down cone to keep the squirrel away?

    Thanks!

But we want the fabulous aroma...which goes on for days regardless of their droopy appearance😩😍 if u want u can still pick from 400 Rock Lake Rd. But don’t say I didn’t tell you!

Last Saturday morning, I dropped off some items at the annual Ward cleanup day. In the process, my Leatherman "Wingman" multi-tool somehow became disassociated from the interior of my van. I am fairly certain that it happened while the van was being unloaded at Ward. While it's not tremendously expensive, or hard to find another, it has a personal value to me. It does have a laser-etched marking that makes it uniquely identifiable. If anyone here has seen it (not likely) or knows anyone who was working in Ward that day, who might have seen it or heard of it (more likely), please let me know. Ward phone exchange, x.0305, or nmiexi - at- geemail. Thanks.

Jamie P., You may use our fenced in "yard" behind our house or next to our garage at 62 Bridger Trail (we have 2 separate yards, one for the dogs, one for the horses). We are not there full time until June 23rd, so there are no dogs yet. Larry and I will be there this week for a few days, coming back permanently June 23rd. No gates up yet, but our contractor Larry (local guy) is there working. Tell him we said it was ok to use the yard. Have fun and good luck with your training! Nancy Gould

Hi Neighbors! Does anyone have a decent sized fenced in part of their land they’d be willing to let Kyle and I borrow for training our new pup? Winnie has been with us for about 6 months now and after all of our training classes, it’s time to put what we’ve learned to use but we aren’t ready to do it outside of a fenced in area and dog parks are too big of a distraction for this first part of training. The catch is that we want to start practicing without other dogs for now. If this seems like it might be possible, let me know? We’ll clean up any messes :) Thanks everyone! Kim Renner Busey - to answer your question, no this is not a normal pollen season. It's one of the heaviest I've ever seen and I've been here 37 years. Usually it's either not so heavy to begin with (it's always a pain, anyway) or it rains at some point before it all gets released. The wind this year has been another major factor, which is pretty common, but it seems to have been windier and dryer than usual. Just my 2 cents!

Pollen Storm, so that's what that was when Lila and i drove through from Beaver Rez yesterday afternoon. Amazing.
I thought it might be dust as it was blowing and lightly raining. It seems to me that this year is a good year for
or forest plant life! I guess love is in the air :)

Georgie is heading to her resting place this week and would like to send farewell kisses & hugs to her huge extended family pack of people and animals that love her.

She would thank all her good friends for the tremendous love and companionship, (and of course belly rubs) that you gave her! What a long, happy life she’s had for knowing you-she’s certainly one Lucky Dog!

We will remember her Wild, Independent, Loving Spirit and will be grateful, always, to have traveled the Road with this very special Being.

    Dear neighbors ,
Please don't take any of the rocks from the side of the road where we live to landscape your yard. A few years ago , I made a rock garden with some large rocks on the corner , and they disappeared. They were pretty big(a couple ft each) and had to be moved around using logs as leverage. It was really difficult to do. Eventually we plan to do some landscaping around here, and we do not have any rocks to spare, and will have to buy rocks.
Over the years we have lost at least 10 good rocks.I have no idea why people would take rocks from our yard by the road, but we seem to lose a couple every year, so this year I am saying something about it ,hoping we don't lose any more to other peoples landscaping projects. If your landscaper brings you rocks to use , make sure they did not come from our property. We really like our rocks , and need every single one of them here, no matter what size they are.

Little black bear visited our house on Bramer Rd the last two nights. This little bear ripped one of our window screens. Thankfully the window was closed 45 min earlier, but I assume he was smelling the brownies we baked.
Neighbors - Please protect our wildlife and remember to keep your trash locked up, cars cleaned out, bird feeders put away, and widows closed. We don’t want any bears becoming a “nuisance” because of our negligence.

Who made the bear signs in Jamestown? I would like to get a one to put out.

We have property with a house in Matoons Highlands, just west of Bar-K and east of the church camp. We have enjoyed it for 40 years. Love the area. We are retired and now only live in Matoons for 4 months during the summer. Since I am a "seasoned" citizen I would like to find someone in one of the nearby areas who is interested in house cleaning work. It is a big job for me to open up the "cabin" and get it running. I would pay by the hour.
We will not be there until the first week in June. Exact date tbd. You may reach me at 520-599-6471. Would like to have service over the 4 month period this summer also.

Nancy and Larry, If you succeed in getting your permit,(I won't protest it , since you decided not to be a Starbucks franchise) Can you toss all the Elk and moose parts that you don't need, over here for my dogs, and future wolves in my wild life refuge? We could really help each other out! You won't have to pay for garbage removal of the bones and skins, and I'll save money on dog food!
If anyone has any old lead paint still taking up space in your sheds or garage, please send it over. I'll just use it to paint the house inside and out when we redo it, after making a killing in the real estate market, selling the cabin!
I was also considering opening a dispensary here, for when people have had too much caffeine at the cafe', they can chill out with some super kind bud, all organic of course.
If I make enough money at these business endeavors, then I could buy a hyperbolic oxygen chamber, to sleep in my lead lined room at night. During the day I could charge people a bunch of money for hourly sessions, to help them with all their chronic diseases.
I'm also thinking about setting up a sweat lodge down by the pond, and having a native medicine person here , living in a teepee, doing traditional ceremonies, which can serve a dual purpose of detoxing , while keeping away any bad vibes or evil spirits. I don't know why I had not thought about all these things sooner, especially the lead paint for the house!

So much information on these towers!! Nancy has decided to give up on her dream to open a Starbucks on Bridger Trail, we hear they use child labor to pick those coffee beans in South America and we do not want to support such bad behavior. So...we have decided to team up with the "tower people" instead. We will be applying for a permit to build something really special that we think will fit right in with the Bar K...we will call it "Devil's Tower BBQ and Salmonhead Cafe", featuring delicious BBQ which does NOT use microwaves (fries your brain) or real fire (fries your land), it uses the "radiation" emitted from the tower to slowly and deliciously cook meat! The meat we will use will come from Estes Park golf course elk run over by impatient tourists and baby moose hit by insane pizza delivery drivers. We promise the fastest internet speeds west of Longmont, so come and eat, relax and be sure to bring your laptop or cell phone for hours and hours of fun with your face planted in the screen, not talking to a single person sitting at your own table! No reservations required!!

I am new to Bar-K and just learning how its residents use the QT, but it strikes me that it would be in everyone's best interests if they refrained from posting anonymous messages meant to ridicule individuals. It is unfortunate that there cannot be a civil conversation about actual studies and legal cases regarding towers and their potential effects on health, property values, etc.

    Scott Ahern,
You are correct regarding the smart phones, and exactly why I rarely use one. Mine is usually dead, I forget to charge it and often don't even take it with me when I leave the neighborhood, which is why I bought it , just for emergency calls.
However ,I still would not like the towers built in the neighborhood.
There is strong evidence that the EMFs are a major contributing factor to the increased rates of autism, now 1 in 5-6 children are somewhere on the spectrum.
People can choose to use the smart phone all the time or and take the risks.
I am glad I didn't even know how to use a computer when I was pregnant with my kids, and never even had a cell phone when I was pregnant with my children. other than the old analogue one We should have some choice about how much Electromagnetic energy is flying around the ranch here, and I believe there is enough already.
Would you want your pregnant wife living close to one of those towers? and your unborn children constantly bombarded with all sorts of man made frequencies?
I am afraid people with growing families would just not take the risk of living near a tower and lower the real estate values in the neighborhood.
We are either going to end up with a majority of older folks here, aging with chronic health issues, or some developmentally disabled autistic kids needing special care, if their parents are oblivious to the affects of smart phones, wifi, etc.
I think we should all be able to make informed choices, and if no one else is going to try to inform people about doing their own research and being informed enough to make the choice to use all the technology or choose not to, it might as well be me.
And hopefully people are conce5rned about the developing moose and wildlife also! Nice moose pictures , Sal!
This is a designated wildlife migration corridor after all, and why we are not supposed to have fences that prevent wildlife from getting through the neighborhood easily.
It's a lovely riparian zone, just full of natural wonders, wildlife and plants in the forest. birds can be disrupted by the frequencies also, and their migration compass affected.
It would be sad if all the sudden they all started steering clear of us, or had birth defects and got ill.
I was really hoping it would be someone else honestly, but no one was really mentioning it, so I feel compelled to .

    Hello Phil,
Thank you for wandering down the thorny path of towers and high speed internet. I did rf design and site development for 15 years for various Cell phone companies. As you stated, the rf signals emitted from the towers are extremely low. If you want to be concerned about radio frequency radiation, look no further than the smartphone in your hand. You receive far larger doses of radio frequency radiation from that, then from any of the towers proposed. I also work from home and welcome any improvement in the internet speed and reliability in the Bar K. Thank you for taking this on.

We are pretty low tech folks,Joe Desimone, and don't have a microwave in our kitchen (intentionally, because they mess with my head)We're looking for a land line phone that is not cordless. No electric alarm clock or wifi router near the bedroom. We plan on moving the smart meter away from my house, and replacing it with an analogue meter, which I have already discussed with Excel energy, that said I could hire an electrician and do that.
Ironically, I was looking into these things BEFORE any of us knew about these proposed towers, because the EMFs can affect MY BODY AND BRAIN! We are remediating the house completely, to eradicate mold spores(which get activated by electromagnetic waves), gutting it, and replacing everything, as soon as we sell the other house(which was supposed to happen last fall)
We had a lot of water damage to our house, and are still in flood recovery here, hoping to be done next year.We have been planning this remediation and renovation for years, to improve our environment at our house, and eliminate everything I have been reacting to. Our youngest daughter just developed an autoimmune issue this year also, and she still lives here. I have Drs who's protocols I am following right now, that are recommending this be done. My life and quality of life, and future of my family living here depends on it. Our plans were already being made prior to finding out about your microwave towers, that you plan on putting here(if you get the permit),Elevations Ethernet!
Your resume is more concerning than comforting to me, Phil Quigley, you too Joe...the FCC is fast tracking much of this and vowed to do so with local governments. (I'm not even going to get into what the other agencies you mentioned you were with are doing with this technology currently)Obviously you and Joe are working together to some degree on this project, and I don't need to ease up on my concerns that affect me and my family and neighbors. I am well aware of the propaganda you both are reading off of, put out by the FCC to fast track all this "progress" in communications networks. I even watched some FCC videos telling people how much money there was to be made in this business. There are pro technology people such as yourselves ,that believe these artificial EMFs are completely safe...
On the other hand, studies are emerging to demonstrate that EMFs, including non ionizing ones, may be unsafe, even low frequency ones.
While we still need decades more research to understand the influence of Wifi radiation, people around the world are reporting debilitating or chronic symptoms, with names like "digital dementia","Wifi allergies", and there are even particular pathogens (that normally live in the body without causing as much harm) getting stimulated by the electromagnetic waves, wreaking havoc on immune systems.
Our entire bodies, heart, brain, Mitochondria, and liver enzymes also operate based on electrical conductivity and light energy. The human body is a sophisticated electromagnetic system, and some of ours(especially mine) are very sensitive, perhaps some of you are just not affected much, or yet...perhaps I am your "canary" although I'm guessing I am not the only one.
France , Australia , and Sweden even compensate people for the disorder.Canada has been looking into it with school children also more recently. There is an entire population of humans and animals being affected, so I wish we could at least limit it here in the Bar K Ranch. Our bodies own natural electrical systems are very weak compared to man made electrical signals. Some medical professionals think Wifi could be a large influence on the increasing rates of autism, Alzheimer's,MS, Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune cell dysfunction related diseases ,triggered by cell pathways not functioning properly due to signals affecting the cells mitochondria.People also sleep better when not being bombarded with EMFs.
The US also has the least regulation of this industry in the world, thanks to the propaganda from the FCC.It may not be a cell tower, but my neighbor's cell phone works here, yours probably would too.

"We are particularly sensitive to avoid interference of these frequencies as this would have a negative impact on the existing providers and household Wifi routers"-Phil Quigley.
I think you should be as sensitive to the developing children here at the Bar K Ranch!
Your signals can be strong enough to interfere with the other frequencies,(unless you use another frequency altogether, with the FCC license you have)I hope that you can also be particularly sensitive about interfering with my remaining brain cells, and other cell's functions. What about my mitochondria, liver enzymes, I am much more sensitive than the neighbors wifi router!
I have been spending a lot of money on herbal medicine, supplements, and a personal health coach, and they are coaching me on how to reduce my EMF exposure in my house.
I may be extra sensitive, but have been doing my own research, and following protocols from Drs. that agree with limiting EMF exposure, especially Wifi towers nearby.
I'm getting personal because it's a personal issue for me. Those towers will be like giant microwaves as far as my brain is concerned, I don't have a microwave here, why would I be ok with a big one outside, that is also ruining the view for me of nature?

Nedernet does not have to be licensed by the FCC because their frequency does not require it(unlikely that the other 4 companies require it) Elevations Ethernet does, and it's likely to change and upgrade also, to 5G in the very near future, according to the head of the FCC. The other companies did not have to get permits in the neighborhood, or I may not have been very happy about them either , (if I got a post card in the mail from the county telling me about them, for a special use review)

This is a residential neighborhood, not an industrial complex zoned for businesses, and we already have adequate wifi ISPs here, which do not require a FCC license, and 50 ft towers to operate(at least not where there are houses that can see them, requiring a special use review)We bought this house with a double lot, an aspen grove and other flora and fauna in the adjoining lot,to buffer our view of other houses and have the south view facing those aspens intentionally. The pond and bordering open space were perfect too.My dreams and hopes of staying here forever, are being crushed by your plans.I was really don't want to sell everything and move after putting down roots here for 20 years, and 25 in Boulder County.

I am begging you to change you mind! and not go through with your plans to ruin our neighborhood's appearance and some people's health! Please, just don't build them here, Phil Quigley and family and friends of EE, wanting higher speed internet. Sell those lots or make money building houses on them. You can make just as much money building and selling houses, as competing with the existing ISPs here.
Please put one of your towers in your friend Ben Perry's yard, to accommodate his need for high speed internet , and those around him that want it,instead of our neighborhood.
I also already checked out your prices and they are already higher than I am paying now for 12 mbps, And who is to say that once you get going you won't raise your rates??? There are not even 210 houses around here to provide service to, so how are you going to make money, and when are you going to upgrade?I am pretty sure you will upgrade after reading agendas from the FCC, with their plans to upgrade asap. I'm not so worried about the current unlicensed ISPs in the neighborhood, even Sal said less is better.

I do not want to get embroiled in an online debate, but I feel I must warn others not to be so quick to dismiss Jackie's fears. As someone who teaches and conducts research on environmental hazards at CU Boulder, I can tell you there are growing concerns within the legal and public health communities about the effects of these kinds of towers not only on individuals' physical well-being but also the value of their properties. They also agree that these sorts of projects should be discussed with community residents BEFORE they are formally proposed. Otherwise residents feel railroaded and forced to express their objections strongly.

We appreciate everyone’s feedback and would like to alleviate any fears about EM pollution and our technology with the Tower Application we have in process. We are in the planning cycle with the County Building Dept in determining the frequencies and the maximum operating radio emissions from our Wifi tower access points that provide communications distributing our Wifi internet to the Bar-K and surrounding areas.

The operational frequencies for our access points we have selected based upon an extensive spectrum analysis of frequencies in Bar-K will be 900 MHz and 3.6 GHz. Of those frequencies, the maximum power at the access point will be +20 dBm (0.1 watt). At client residences the client installation radio will operate at a maximum power of -20 dBm (0.00001 watt). These levels of operational power have been determined by the FCC through extensive studies to be safe for high density residential areas. We operate at a very low power application of Wifi technology in order to be conscientious of EM radiation pollution and minimizing any interferences with common household electronics (Wifi routers, garage door openers, weather stations, smart home appliances, security cameras, etc.). Additionally, our spectrum analysis survey has determined the primary frequencies being used in the Bar-K area for existing Wifi utilization is the 5.0 to 5.8 GHz Bands and secondarily 2.4 to 2.5 GHz Bands. We are particularly sensitive to avoid interference of these frequencies as this would have a negative impact on the existing providers and household Wifi routers.

As the head of engineering for Elevations Ethernet, I have 35 years experience with RF and Optical Systems Engineering. I have served the aerospace, military, law enforcement, industrial, and consumer markets. Jackie,
You need to ease up on your fears. Your claims of "disease causing environment" due to radio emissions from a WiFi installation are unsubstantiated.
As an electronics design engineer who has spent 35 years working in various forms of wireless communications from high power broadcast, military radar, down to micro powered radio identification products (RFID) your claims that these installations will degrade the quality of life for Bar-K residents are not grounded in reality.
I too have read many of the studies of the health impacts non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation can present to the human body. But these studies are mostly for cellular and broadcast installations where the radio field densities are many many orders of magnitude higher than a distributed internet "WiFi tower".

The proposed WiFi system is not a "cellular" installation. It is basically a more sophisticated form of a home wifi wireless router using the same frequencies allocated for such applications (2.45GHz and 5.8GHz). The output power from the directional antennas will be a few watts at best. Your perceived threat of excessive exposure to such high levels of radiation to cause physical damage is unwarranted. A typical cellular installation can have many hundreds of watts of power depending upon the number of co-located providers and sector antenna clusters. You are exposed to higher levels of radio radiation leakage from your microwave oven not to mention the countless other electromagnetic fields created by house wiring, appliances, computer monitors and other consumer electrical devices then these WIFi tower installations will ever present. FYI your microwave oven uses the same frequency as the WiFi.
Having worked around 100kW and higher power transmission systems (megawatt with radar) I am fully knowledgeable of the hazards (and safety protocols) radio frequency energy can present to unshielded individuals, and equipment. I can honestly say these WiFi installations are not one of them.

As far as the aesthetic concerns regarding the tower visibility these can easily be met with camouflage paint and other disguising techniques used by the cellular industry. The irony is many of the trees surrounding these towers will be as tall if not taller providing natural camouflage.

My only concern regarding this new installation is have the owners of Elevations Ethernet performed a spectrum analysis and created a channel coordination plan shared with the other providers to minimize interference. There is only so much spectrum and channelization to utilize in the WiFi ISM frequency bands. If this has not done then adding a 3rd local terrestrial wireless internet service will not improve internet connection speeds for bar-k users but serve to only degrade the existing services in place. In this situation everyone loses.

Lastly, I have been a resident of Bar-k for 20 years and have not been paid by Elevation Ethernet to make these statements. I provide them freely as a electronics professional.

    Jack,
Want to know why I am so hypersensitive? There are literally thousands of peer reviewed studies regarding the health impacts of wifi towers,
and Ben, condescendingly stated that it was exaggerated and made up, not reality...
which is both insulting and false at the same time. Ben does not even live in this neighborhood! and he does not have to live close to them!

What is even worse, is if these towers actually get approved, we will have to sell both of our houses and move elsewhere,
all because people don't think they can survive here without faster internet than is already available here.
I wonder how they are managing to keep their jobs? with such inadequate internet all these years...
What is really concerning is where will we move to? there are not many places that we can have work(which Pete has to drive to every day) schools, enough space for us, etc.
that don't have all this high speed internet wifi tower EMF, and disease causing environment.

I also really wanted to get a horse! where else can I live that has community stables for horses , that we could possibly afford to live in? This could kill my dream of having a horse!

This was it for our family, or so we thought...until some company decided to try to build wifi towers, so that a few neighbors , and busy bodies from other neighborhoods, can have the fastest damn internet in the world, and not have to reenter any data on their amazon orders or whatever...

To me ,this is worth getting hypersensitive over, because my life, and my families lives are going to be severely altered ,if these towers get approved.

Data distribution using fiber optic technology has many advantages. However anyone who works with it will confirm it's not "perfectly safe", you're not supposed to look directly into the end of the cable, there's a risk of eye damage. In any case there's no fiber optic internet connection available up here anyway.

Unless you are using a satellite-based internet connection, you are already connecting to an existing tower, nearby. Both Full Signal and Nedernet use a wireless connection to the endpoint. I'm not sure what frequency Full Signal uses but Nedernet uses 2.4 and/or 5 GHz, just like your router inside your home. Nowhere near the equivalent of beaming microwaves. You likely get more stray ElectroMagnetic Field from your clock radio beside your bed, or your personal router.

Working from home, the issue is usually response time, not so much the sustained data transfer speed. Entering text commands into a screen, for example, uses a thousand times less bandwidth than loading a web page with a bunch of pictures. A delay of a few seconds can mean the difference between successfully completing a task, and having to enter the commands again.

You've been paying a tax for a long time, part of the intent of which was to ensure that the telecomm companies extended affordable internet to rural areas. In other words, they've been collecting money so they could build out their infrastructure, but they haven't done it. Years ago, we mountain residents had to petition the PUC, first to eliminate the long-distance charge to call anywhere, including Boulder, and next to get private party phone service. Sadly, the Colorado PUC does not handle complaints about internet coverage.

Those of us who remember dial-up internet think it's downright marvelous to have anything resembling fast internet up here. Unfortunately, the network congestion, possibly due to numbers of households watching Netflix or YouTube all day, or doing massive BitTorrent downloads, unthinkable activities to the dial-up generation, create an environment where it's tough to do computer work from home, reliably.

I am curious about what wireless distribution technology the controversial new towers would be using.

    Ben Perry,
You just did disparage my opinion, and the extensive research I have been doing, by referring to it as hyperbole .You don't have to live close to it,or view right out your window. What exactly kind of work do you do from home ? that requires such high speed internet? Why don't you see if they can build a tower in your yard,in your neigborhood Ben?

Dave Y, don't know you , but you also disparaged my comment, and referred to it as hyperbole, just because you want the convenience of faster internet.

I'm not sure where you all came from, or why you moved here to bring your conveniences with you, only to disparage the lives of people that have lived here much longer, and invested everything they have ,believing that it could never change in any dramatic way, from when we purchased our homes, in forestry zoning.
We figured there might be a few more houses built on plotted lots, zoned forestry, but we never imagined 50 ft wifi towers in our view.

(And the fake tree doesn't make up for it Hollis. It's still beaming microwaves and EMFs all around.)

If everyone read every page of the proposal for the permit, it's only for the actual towers, and does not specify the exact technology or Hertz- Megahertz output, nor does it say if the technology on the top of the tower will change to the proposed FCC agenda of 5G network in the near future, so everything will then be upgraded.
Fiber optics is a perfectly safe technology for high speed internet and it's secure.

We love the mountains and all that that means or we wouldn’t be here. We also make compromises with modernity.

I do not primarily work from home, but I work at home often enough that fast internet is extremely useful. The first six years I lived here my internet was sporadic, unpredictable. I’ve been a customer of our neighbors the Quigleys for the last two years. It is the fastest internet I have ever had, including in my office at CU Boulder.

Is this one of those compromises worth making? Up to you. But, as Ben Perry put it so beautifully, evaluate the proposal based upon reality and not hyperbole.

A perspective on the proposed internet towers from over here on Bramer.

The owners of Elevations Ethernet, the Quigleys, ARE your neighbors. Not neighbors in the right-next-door sense, but certainly in the larger context of being "Overlanders." I've known Cherie Quigley for a decade, which goes back long before they'd even considered starting this kind of business. They are good people, and I trust that what they're attempting to do is in the best interest of both themselves and their neighbors.

There's been a number of references to the health and property value impacts of "cell towers" here on the QT. For the sake of clarity, this proposal does not seek to install AT&T or Verizon-style cell phone towers (which are what the studies about health and fertility and such are in reference to). What Elevations proposes is roughly equivalent (though admittedly taller) to what already exists in the Bar-K Ranch: redistribution towers for Internet-only service. Operating at low power, it's very unlikely that these represent any kind of health risk... but if they do, it's similar to what already exists in the ranch.

As a 12-year area resident who does, in fact, work from home, and for whom the existing internet providers in the neighborhood have been unable to provide adequate service, I am in favor of the proposal to add additional towers to extend Elevations Ethernet service. I have commented to the county accordingly. The opportunity to ditch my current expensive and bandwidth-limited ViaSat service is appealing to me, and I personally see very little downside to the proposal.

Admittedly, we wouldn't have to look directly at the proposed towers from our property, and I am sympathetic to those of you that would. And as someone with a strong libertarian streak and a live-and-let-live mentality, I would never disparage anyone who chooses a different way of living or has a different perspective on Elevations Ethernet's proposal. I would simply ask that you keep an open mind and evaluate this proposal based upon reality and not hyperbole. Thanks for reading.

Our family has been living in this neighborhood for 20 years now, We had hoped to stay here, and fix up our house , when we sell the house on Jed smith Rd.

The proposed towers will be visible and affect both houses, and their real estate values, as well as our view.
We were planning on refinancing this year also.

Besides the real estate values, I would encourage people to research the health impacts of this technology.even though that is not allowed to be a legal issue. (thanks to the FCC and previous legislation that they have passed)

There is a lot of information available on line , with research to back it up.
There are also numerous YouTube videos made by Drs, and others, regarding this research and technology. Especially at risk are the young children and developing unborn fetuses and fertility.

I realize that some older people that have moved here recently, seem more concerned about having their on line shopping order go through, without any interruptions or inconvenience for even a few hours, but please consider the future of young growing families, that would like to live here in the mountains for the enjoyment of the natural way of life, without the towers. Also consider that we have the convenience of at least a few wifi ISPs available here already.

We all put up with some inconveniences in order to live in this beautiful place in the mountains. We chose to live here without every convenience available in other places .
If your work from home jobs were affected by the current available internet, you would simply be renting an office space in town, or have to actually travel to your place of work like most of us that have been living here for a long time have to do anyway. We put up with these relatively minor inconveniences to preserve our views and lifestyle choice of living in a remote area in the mountains.

Please also consider your neighbors that have lived here for a long time ,and have started ISP businesses to provide you with wifi, before you ever moved here, and support those small businesses. rather than support something that will change everyone's views , natural environment, and real estate value's and investments permanently.

Please make sure you take the opportunity to make a public comment to the County planners by Monday, May 7th.
Thanks, and have a nice day!

    Eggs are ready!

Fresh, brown, gorgeous eggs from organic-fed hens for sale streetside at 790 Rock Lake Rd. from 8AM - 2PM today and tomorrow (Sat and Sun).

$5/dozen, or $.50/by the egg. They're in the cooler - on the honor system. Please help yourself.

(The picture is of the ladies enjoying some fresh organic sprouted barley - a daily part of their diet. The barley takes 8 days to go from seed to carpet (3-4"). We raise it in a warm spot in long gutters and tear off a length each day. Doesn't even require sunlight.)

Thanks very much for the follow up everyone . My car is ok, I managed to maneuver it safely by the mailboxes . I don’t have four wheel drive which is why I just moved back recently - ive got good tires so once I make it up that first hill on overland I’m usually good but it was so slushy today I couldn’t get traction . My event is at four tonight so I think I’m gonna wait it out and see what it looks like although the forecast isn’t looking too hopeful - thanks for the offer sal I will give you a call if I have any issues.

Kate and Jackie, Thank you for your input and offer to help. I will contact the CSU Extension office! If they are willing to drive up here and walk our property with us, that would be great! My horses will be restricted to their own back yard turnouts for this summer. Perhaps they will get the opportunity to run around in the common pastures by this fall, but that is yet to be determined. These horses have never been out free on pasture to graze, always fed hay and grain, so we (and they) have a lot to learn! Thank you for your help. We are so looking forward to riding the local trails!

    Nancy and Larry,
I was going to volunteer to walk around your yard and ID plants, but after looking up poisonous plants,
realized you should get an expert. Although I know there are some in the pastures that are listed,
The mountain horses tend to avoid them,(not sure about city horses) if grass is available.
I don't want to be liable for yours getting sick.so I deleted that post.

You should probably avoid putting your horses on the pastures the mountain horses here graze, if you are concerned.
I would be happy to Id some plants in your yard, if you like, call 0215

These "city" horses have never been out on pasture or any type of free grazing, always on a dry dirt paddock (yes, they will LOVE their new home!). Can anyone advise us on toxic, poisonous plants we need to get rid of on our land? Internet search shows MANY plants but I am not sure what we have up here that we need to clear out. I just called the Sheriff’s department (non emergency line) and they said that they are not aware of a fire anywhere nearby and that it’s possible smoke is blowing in from Arizona.

However, they want us all to keep a lookout for plumes or any local fire signs just in case. If in doubt call 303.441.4444 and chat with them.

Just a quick PSA to remind everyone that a pet's microchip is only as useful as the current registration. The dog Emily found was microchipped, but the chip was never registered.

Some people let their registration lapse when a company contacts you to ask for money to renew. You can go to this site:

    https://www.foundanimals.org/microchip-registry/

for free lifetime registration. You can also upload pictures and change alternate contacts (ie: if you are traveling and someone is watching your pet). Consider that one of the alternate contacts could be someone outside of our immediate area- in case of a natural disaster or emergency where our phones or internet are not working.

Please put checking to see if microchip info is current on your to-do list if you have a pet that is microchipped.
