/m13713 -- RM -- "Can someone talk to me; if’s mandatory come back the office for small packages📦 from China; after 10:30am ( when, that’s clear or the Clerks finishes)."

-- Not really. Probably should be getting paid deviation mileage for leaving the route, returning to the post office for the packages and returning to your line of travel.

-- Why are you leaving the post office before the clerks are done throwing parcels? Office policy? Afraid of having start time pushed back if you file for "waiting time."?

-- Check with your Assistant District Representative about the "return for packages" policy.

/m13714 + m13716 -- PTF carrier -- "When I go full time; do I get a new seniority date?" "Ok so I will keep my seniority date even though I will become more senior then most of the full time carriers now ? I started in 92."

-- You started in 1992 and have not made regular yet? Have you had a break in service?

-- 1992 is your "hire date", which is only good for seniority among other RCA's. But only if you stayed in the same post office. Transfer to another post office and your reporting date becomes your seniority date for that office among those RCA's.

-- Once you make regular, that date will be your seniority date with other regular carriers.

Simply take a tennis ball, drop it about the couch, take a seat on it, and roll it round the glutial area unless you obtain the tender spot and work it.
This is critical for athletes as well as for people with chronic pain issues. "Tapotement" is a rhythmic tapping action performed with the palm, edge with the hand, or back in the hand.

They have been doing that here (upstate NY) for years.
I retired in 2014, and before that a local PM got in a great deal of hot water with the district for letting a company put up curbside boxes instead of cluster boxes.
Don't know how it ever ended up but it was hideous for that PM to go through.

Rural Carrier Folk, I am in a Rural Office, my carriers are being told from District, to let management know of any new subdivision construction on route, to get a # if there was one for contact, because apparently USPS is trying to force ALL new subdivisions into purchasing cluster boxes for mail service, NO door to door/box to box...Wondering if you have heard this, and what if anything Union has to say, any word on if the USPS can really do that? Id think this really kills the ability for routes to grow, for aux routes to bump up to full...etc...?

All -- The 2018-2021 contract has been ratified by a vote of 16,714 for to 2,665 against. 19.8% returned ballots.

-- On the plus side, by the time of the official signing, the 36-month contract will be be up in 21 months, but will still be in effect until replaced by a new contract.

/m13706 -- James -- " In my station they are posting the schedule and it now reads "on call" on certain days. It also reads that "per the contract all ptf's and RCA's have to be available daily". Is there a way to request the part of the contract that addresses this issue?"

-- Let your Assistant District Representative know of the office "policy" to be "on call" and available daily.

-- Politely ask manglement for their contract reference.

-- The closest manglement can come probably will be to cite Article 30.2.M. -- Discipline Procedure. In part: repeated unavailibility for work, failure to maintain the regular schedule within reasonable limits, delay of mail, and failure to perform satisfactorily in the office. ( no mention of being "on call" )

-- A second reference might be the ELM's Section 665.41 -- Requirement for Regular Attendance. Employees are required to be regular in attendance. Failure to be regular in attendance may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the Post Service. ( In some cases, that may be a blessing! ) ( Again, no mention of being "on-call" )

-- According to a Step 3 decision from 2003, J00R-4J-C03011368 DIST 493: in part -- There is no requirement for RCA's to be on standby or to wait by the phone to be called in to work. Unfortunately, it is non-citable. So you would have to grieve being "on call".

-- Others have found that submitting a request for payment for the time spent sitting by the phone, waiting to be called usually puts an end to that requirement.

-- Other offices have managed to get an "agreement" that RCA's wait until 9 am ( or some other agreed time ) to be called, if not called, then free to do other things for the day.

Hello. I'm a ptf and becoming a regular cant come soon enough. In my station they are posting the schedule and it now reads "on call" on certain days. It also reads that "per the contract all ptf's and RCA's have to be available daily". Is there a way to request the part of the contract that addresses this issue? Also, how can I be on call if I'm not getting paid unless I work?

/m13703 -- Ashley -- "Can a regular rural carrier change her relief day when ever she wants or is there a certain time she can do it?"

-- What is your route's classification? "H", "J", or "K"
-- What is your relief day and what do you want to change it to?
-- Are you a Formula Office?
-- Step 4 ( R-92 ) in part: IF MUTUALLY AGREEABLE to BOTH the postmaster and the employee, the employee's relief day may be changed.

m/13703 -- Beth -- "My mileage is incorrect on my route. Losing a mile a day. How with affect my evaluation?"

-- Seeing a lot of such postings over at ruralmailtalk.com.

-- Probably won't affect the route's evaluation - unless near the upper or lower standard time limits. But certainly could affect your pay. A mile is worth 12 minutes a week.

-- Why do you say the route mileage is incorrect? Above or below that is on the 4003 Form?

- a recent check by manglement?
- what was used to measure the mileage? A vehicle with a calibrated odometer? A scanner?
- was it done during a ride along route inspection while you were delivering mail? If so, it is bogus. A true remeasurement of route mileage is done along the center of the lane without servicing mail boxes. And the carrier has the right to be present, but in a non-duty / non-pay status.

-- Chapter 6 of the M-38 ( Management of Rural Delivery Services ) covers Measurement of Rural Routes.
-- Any other routes in the office lose mileage?
-- In any case, let your Assistant District Representative know of the change in mileage.
