The first San Antonio Uke Fest went really well. I couldn't get off work for most of it, but did enjoy the evening jam. San Antonio is well becoming the Ukulele Capitol of Texas. As for uke collecting and playing, new beginner level ukes and beginner level vintage ukes aren't that much different in price. My plastic "Davy Crockett Guitar" uke was on display at the fest, and I had to turn down an offer that was worthy of a Favilla. The cheapies from the fifties have great graphics, and hoarding a dozen or so doesn't deprive someone else of a good playable instrument. I guess the real question is how many Martins does someone really need to have.
