BDHS'65 MINI-REUNION THIS SATURDAY! Saturday (June 15) is the annual Westlake Reunion, a perfect time and place for a mini-reunion for the BDHS'65ers (and their friends).
Clermont Lions Club Park, 3201 Tansel Rd, Clermont: 5 pm to 10 or 11 pm, and admission is $5.00 per person.
I'll bring the class banner and find a way to hang it between a couple of trees, to mark our spot.
Bring your own chairs, food and drink, etc. "Activity" will be mostly sitting around and talking with each other about the old days, and/or watching/dancing to the 60s band (or DJ - not sure what they'll have this year).
CAVEAT - Weather report is 50% chance of rain. There's not much shelter at the park, so if it does rain all bets are off. I'm two hours away, and if it's raining I'll stay home.

NEW CLASS OF 65 PICNIC? Since we no longer do the Labor Day Sunday class picnic, should we call this our annual picnic? Ben Davis will have its own area, and we could set up our '65 sub-area here.

ANOTHER CHRISTMAS STORY In 1939, Montgomery Ward's department store assigned staff writer Robert May to create a new Christmas character to be used in the annual Ward's Christmas catalog. May came up with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Ten years later, Robert May's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, used May's story to write the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and cowboy star Gene Autry made it a super hit in 1949. And 1950, and 1951, and 1952. But Johnny Marks didn't stop there. He went on to write Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, and Holly Jolly Christmas, and Run Rudolph Run, and I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. And the sad thing is, so very few people have ever heard of Johnny Marks! So here he is.

I got a note from Dottie (Miller) Nixon's husband Mike that Dottie had passed away in February. I found this online: Dottie Marie Nixon, 70, of South Whitley, Ind., passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at her residence. She was born July 19, 1947 in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Robert and Laura Miller. On May 29, 1976, in Rochester, Ind., she married Michael J. Nixon and he survives. Dottie was a graduate of Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis, and had a bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She had worked as an accountant for many years at Fox Products in South Whitley. She attended Christ's Covenant Church in Winona Lake, Ind., for more than 30 years and had attended Cornerstone Grace Church in South Whitley. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing golf with her husband and enjoyed finding that good bargain. Survivors include her husband, Michael J. Nixon, of South Whitley; children, Tony (Stacey) Hausman, of Mooresville, Troy Hausman, of Lebanon, Jonathan Nixon, of South Whitley; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com. Edited 05-19-2018 07:34 AM

YEAR-END REPORT
Just finished walking the treadmill at Planet Fitness for 35 minutes. For exactly the 250th time this year.
At 2.2 miles per session, I've walked about 550 miles. Which puts me just the other side of Minneapolis.
No wonder I'm so cold.
