I remeber that there was a bit of grumbling after the 'Simpsons go to Australia' episode. It was not flattering or accurate, but hey, dickhead - it's a cartoon!

My favourite quote:
"Ewww, I didn't realize kanagroo pouches are full of mucus!"

i figured promoting all that dance music and nudity would have been great for promoting Brazil's image.

You didn't see all the other country's sue because the Simpsons visited...i.e. Japan and Canada weren't that flattering....

And that outrageous children's show with the host who looked and acted like a flamboyant stripper . . . what sort of perverse imagination does Groening have?

"For example, the Brazilians on the show danced conga, had Spanish accents and wore mustaches.

"In the episode the Simpson father, Homer, is kidnapped by a taxi driver, the family is assaulted by begging Brazilian children on a beach, and the family visits Rio slums infested by violent monkeys."

This is complete bullshit! No Brazilian has a moustache! There are never kidnappings! There are no slums, or begging children! I hope Matt Groening gets sodomized by a Spanish-accented conga-dancing attack monkey!!!

Oops, sorry. </sarcasm> What the fuck are they thinking?
(DUMBASS 1) "Hey, maybe we can use their own laws to screw 'em!"
(DUMBASS 2)"But Jose, they have a law that permits this action."
(DUMBASS 1) "Shut your steenking piehole, you eediot! If you don't remind them, maybe they'll pay us money!"

Sounds like a case for the United Nations to me. I expect the blue helmets to show up at the studios any time now. These unprovoked assaults must not be allowed to continue!

Agreed, Fred C. Probably should've used my <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags :) I'm American too, by the way.

Possibly because we Americans either don't understand satire at all (and are, therefore, pleased as punch just to be mentioned), or understand satire well enough not to be offended in the first place.

From the article:
Brazil is not the first foreign nation to be the target of the zany satire that has made "The Simpsons" the longest-running animated series on U.S. television.

Earlier this season, "clean, bland" Canada and its ingrained insecurities were riffed and ridiculed by the yellow-skinned Simpson family, while Australia, Britain, Japan and France have been targeted in past episodes.

Yeah, and the rest of the time they make fun of the United States. Why doesn't the US sue? The show makes fun of our dirty cities, our crime, our education system, our addictions, etc, etc, etc ...
