Actually, I found the best photo lab on the net! It’s called kwikpix.ca and for the first order you can get unlimited prints for only 5 each! I found this company on RedFlagDeals : http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthr...9102278#post9102278

Hey there!
Purchased a Canon Powershot A70 and am having problems uploading image files to the camera. I keep getting an incompatible jpeg format but jpeg is the format I am working with. I am using Zoombrowser Ex supplied w/ camera. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

/m9 using a Mac and PC for photo editing

I personally don't use iPhoto, I think it might be ok if it was the ONLY photo editing app you used, but like you are considering, I like to move my photos around between my Mac and PC, using whichever application(s) fit best with what I want to do.

On the Mac, I mainly use GraphicConverter and various Adobe tools. On the PC I do most of my photo uploading and any compute-intensive tasks (since my PC is faster than my Mac).

The main issue that arises is ease of tranfer of files between the PC and the Mac. Here are some solutions:
- SCP or otherwise transfer the files directly between your machines (e.g. FTP would also be an option)
- use Mac<->PC file sharing - the latest version of MacOS X is supposed to be able to do Windows file sharing if I understand correctly
- use a FireWire harddrive formatted with Windows FAT32
- use CD-Rs or CD-RWs, if both machines have burners and readers. Note you may have to play around with the format of the CD a bit in order to ensure that the Mac can see the full filename and not just the 8.3 version.
- have a central file server in your home network
- use the Internet as a file server

The Mac itself is very easy to use and very well designed for graphics/photo applications. I use iView MediaPro because it handles the thousands of photos I have, and it doesn't do any trickery with the filenames.

So it's mainly the cross-platform Mac-Windows issues that can be tricky.

One good place for cross-platform info is MacWindows

Richard, (and others)

I read something on your web site about iPhoto changing filenames. I do not own a Mac now but I am thinking of getting one. My main use is learning and editing digital pictures now. I see you linkn to media pro and I assume that is a mac program. My basic questions is do you think it is reasonable to have a Mac a a second computer in my house and can I edit photos on bothMac and PC. I think I may become a Mac person because everyone says it is so easy, but I am wondering what I would lose. For example, I did not know that the fileames get changed. I guess I may be looking for a warning like "it would have been easier to stay with just the PC". My coancern may be unfounded but this is why I ask the questions befor spending 2,000 dollars. Thank you! Wayne

I am looking for the full version of PhotoGenetics. I have the trial version but it has expired. Is there anyway of getting around this expiration? This is a great program for rescuing some old family slides and negatives that have started to deteriorate. (weber_az@msn.com)

/m5 Nikon

Probably the best place for you to ask is in the Nikon Talk forum on DPreview

They can help you with more specifics about your software etc.
When describing your problem (either on here or there) you should specify more details such as:
- what operating system
- what application did you use to transfer the images
- what format are they in (e.g. JPEG? TIFF?)
- how are you trying to email them (e.g. with Outlook, with built-in sending, ...)
