Considering the general degree of hirsuteness, the 'hairy' bit might be inappropriate, granted.

I know you can say "Fuck you, we'll eat dog if we want" in Korean. It's the "you can kiss our hairy asses" part that's dubious. I don't know of a suitably equivalent phrase.

I'm not the expert in subway etiquette in Seoul, but I find it usually works to offer my seat to anyone who looks more exhausted than me. But I don't have time to offer my seat for the halmunis because they just barge right up and squeeze their tushes into the cracks until someone pops up.

Stavros, I love you like a wonderchicken but I gotta complain. Where's my discussion link for the Dr Dogmeat thread? And others in the past, as well? Can you add a discussion link to each post please? Pretty please with, um, boshintang on top?

Here's what I wanted to post about the Dr Dogmeat thing (bit off topic, but hey---sue me!):

"Fuck you, mate. We'll eat dog if we want. And you can kiss our hairy asses if you don't like it!"

Can you say that in Korean? It reminded me of the Flashman test for linguistic proficiency: Flashman* considered that he spoke a language when he could ask a native speaker "Please tell me, speaking slowly and clearly, your father's views on strong drink (or other suitable topic)" and understand the answer.

*Yes, the Flashman from Tom Brown's Schooldays, as resurrected by George MacDonald Fraser in a series of semi-historical novels. Very funny, I think you'd like 'em if you haven't read 'em.

He he very he. Australian women seem to have something of the same prejudice, exacerbated by ill-informed "feminist" ideals. I have had so many mouthfuls of abuse from women my own age or a bit older that I now only offer my seat to elderly or obviously disabled persons.

I think they should take the seat with a simple "Thanks"; but I'm oldfashioned and the word "grace" still has meaning to me.
