Some things seem to be party-independent. I'm a mineral
collector and the recent action by President Clinton to
declare lots of Federal lands (1/3 of the area) Wilderness
areas caused great dismay. As I understand it, Wilderness
areas cannot have any roads built in them. This would make
many mineral collecting areas effectively unreachable and
the mineral specimens would be lost to weathering (decay)
forever. This is related to the ANWR firing because many
USGS maps were apparently changed to REMOVE ROADS THAT WERE ALREADY THERE! W's is not the first administration to
screw with the science.
