Introduction
This is a continuation of a discussion about ThreadsML started over a year ago. Marc Canter resurrected it with an introductory email and has been pushing it along since then.

I don't know if this is covered already in everyone's consideration: but I think it would be good if each single post/comment in a thread could be represented "on its own" in ThreadsML.

The use case I am thinking of is the need to extract only one post (at a time) from an entire thread, possibly with some header info about the entire thread.

Maybe this needs to be a separate, but related, volucabulary -- ThreadsExtractsML (or TEML)? ;-)

A service that could make use of ThreadsML online could, for example, reference a post via a permalink that returns a single post marked-up in ThreadsML.

BTW, on my blog, I am doing permalinks for each entry's RSS versions besides doing a RSS feed of recent posts. For mechanisms that do aggregation based on things other than most recent posts, isn't it necessary to be able to consistently address each item? I can address each HTML post on QuickTopics in this way (like /m115).

Also, don't know if this is of interest, but I am posting more about the iCite net now, including a description today on iCites and online discussions at http://icite.net/blog/example/?permalink=online_discussion.html
