While this is a nice feature request, I'd much rather they do something about the AppleScript support first...

IMHO, use Chimera
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/chimera/nightly/latest-trunk/

Best features:
- faster than Moz
- fully Cocoa
- tabbed browsing working properly, as Cory wants. This is because Chimera follows the Apple Events while Moz not.
- favicon support, I find it better than Moz.

go to system preferences, internet, web, default browser. then set it there, you have to reset it whenever you get a new browser or move your browser.

my mailer seems to open a random browser every time i click a link. sometimes it's netscape, sometimes galeon. if i had any others i wouldn't be surprised if they showed up in the rotation. i keep meaning mess around and fix that but it never seems quite important enough.

if you're interested it's balsa on debian linux (sid).

Read it again -- it's links from other apps (i.e., your mailer).

Um, why not just right-click->click "open link in new tab" ?

In the meantime, if you've got a multi-button mouse and are running OS X, get USB Overdrive X and program your clicks to open in tabs. I've got the side buttons on my Intellimouse opening and closing tabs.
