Hoax.
The TiBook has bad reception because it is a Faraday cage. Some ways to get better reception are
a) cut more holes in the case (not a great idea)
b) use an antenna outside the metal box

The biggest improvement for me? Moving the base-station closer to the couch. That inverse square law pays off every time.
