This sounded interesting to me and I was hoping that some sort of BitPass micropayment would be involved so I could get some quick and cheap. I was happy to find the BitPass link but $5 isn't a micropayment. Under a dollar, please.

Scathing satirical attack?

This worked out so badly for Fox that I wonder if Al Franken *has something* a Fox bigwig. Something so bad that a doomed lawsuit that gave Franken primo publicity seemed preferable. Like candid photos featuring O'Reilly and an overripe melon and an underage borzoi.

The blurb sounds good, but the first few pages really fail to
draw me in.

An easy target, because the lawsuit was stupid and never had a chance, but the play is silly. Fox never claimed to "own" the words "fair and balanced": they simply had a trademark on them. Lots of common phrases are trademarked. About 10 years ago Spy magazine did a short piece consisting entirely of trademarked words and phrases, and it certainly looked absurd, filled with unremarkable superlatives like "it's the best". And while IANAL, my understanding is that trademarks apply pretty narrowly, so different companies in different industries might have the same trademarked phrase.
