Actually, OpenDJ doesn't "swarm". The current DJ uploads her stream to some Shoutcast server, where it's fanned out -- no cascading or P2P transmission of the feed. It's only "p2p" in the way anyone with a "client" can become a DJ, the way Blogger is "p2p" publishing in an abstract sense even though all traffic goes through their server complex.
There's no need for a distinction between swarming-for-files and swarming-for-streaming; I think the eventual solution will be "
Judo Radio" which feeds tracks and DJ voiceovers through standard file-sharing networks on a just-in-time basis.
