Zimbardo visited my psych class at UT-Austin in '71 or '72, and showed the guards/prisoners film they'd compiled. It was spooky... never forgot that one.

Gene Wolfe has a very creepy story, _When I was Ming the Merciless_ on this topic, in his collection _Endangered Species_. Very good in a flesh crawling kind of way.
