WHOA, Freaky Synchronicity: A couple of hours ago I unpacked my collection of old bOING-bOINGS and SF Eye mags. Issue #15 of the latter (the last issue, damnit) has a review I wrote comparing Olaf Stapledon's _Sirius_ and Bakis' _Lives of the Monster Dogs_. I reread it with those snappy looking doggle-dogs in mind. (I liked both books, but think _Sirius_ was more honest. Also horribly tragic.)

You shouldn't have bought her the Beef Jerky flavored doggles, Jer.

But seriously, why not complain? They should make a yet smaller size...

I purchased a pair of these for a small Jack Russel Terrier about a month ago. They were the smallest size they make - peewee size. Not only are they a bit too large for pooch's head, but the second she got a chance she put her chin on the ground, her paws behind her head, pulled them off, and began seriously devouring them.

Doggles beware

I also ran across these in the Doggie Bloggie over at Bonnie's Grrl.com, which you dog lovers might enjoy. It's in the July archive.

Has anyone gotten a picture of a dog in MiG goggles (you know, Cory-style)?

Now my mom's little bug-eyed boston terriers can pursue a life as frisbee dogs, just as they've always dreamed of. And they can become world famous and care for her in her old age, and I won't be forced to leave her at a greyhound station with a one way ticket and no id.

My dog has something similar to these - he wears them when we go walking. Or at least, he used to.

I was walking him through San Francisco recently when a bigger dog - one of the ones that hangs out on the corner by the hydrants all day sniffing butts - walked up to him and asked to try them on...

I don't trust a dog, I can't look in the eye.

There's something both adorable and mildly disturbing about those Shade-wearing German shepherds.
