It's cool that it's a gadget, but if you touch type....

And there are those little tactile bumps to position your fingers....

And in a dark room, isn't there enough glow from the screen already?

Why do we need keyboard lights at all? My IBM laptops have lights built-in, but I've never turned it on. There generally seems to be enough light coming off the display for me to see where the keyboard is anyway. So what practical use to people find for these gadgets? I'm curious.

this would work good on a mac keyboard with the usb on the side or on a laptop that has side usb..

It looks like he took a white LED and soldered it to a USB plug and then used heatshrink to cover it. It's not an elegant solution.

It'll last about 2 minutes in the average laptop bag.

yeah, there are tons of USB lights out now. But this one is TINY. It'd be really nice if I could make use of it-- too bad my laptop's usb ports are on the back edge of the case.

Been done, a couple of years ago, as a serial port powered light for the venerable HP 100LX/200LX DOS palmtops:
