But I've got a line of "concepts" that's got 6 times the range, and it all responds to thought command. It's so much better than these.

All of these concepts have been on display at Epcot, in the Motorola exhibit in Innoventions since 99... SO I'll believe them when I see them. I had the opportunity to open the "new" Innoventions when it re-opened. Everything on display there was either outdated when it went on display, like the Dreamcast, or Vaporware, like Xerox "Electronic Reuseable Paper." The best piece of Vaporware though was the flashbake oven... A microwave that used halogen bulbs to heat food. It popped popcorn in less than 30 seconds a bag. (Nothing to do with Motorola though... Ahhhh memories.)

whats next, bluetooth™ sex toys? A couple of taps on the wrist, PDA, or laptop gets the britches buzzing? Love-Getty takes on a whole new dimension, throwing Rendezvous in the mix.

Sure. There's a useful interface. Break a fingernail, and you can't get to your address book.
Sigh. Folks, there's more to it than looking cool.

Ahh, but Erik, you're evaluating these as if they're real.
Breaking a fingernail does nothing to the usability of an imaginary device. Now breaking an _imaginary_ fingernail would impede looking up imaginary addresses...

frogdesign's still in business? That's suprising. They laid off most of their staff just two years ago.

the last thing anyone needs is a bunch of whiz-bang devices that can only talk to each other. like i'm going to replace my blackberry, pda, cell, etc., with these motorola units. my kingdom for an open-standards way for my palm to talk to my phone, my blackberry to my palm, my PC to my digital camera, etc. the technologies -- wifi, bluetooth, IR, whatever -- are there. cooperation is the killer app. ;)

The Flashbake oven is not vaporware, although I do think that Quadlux has since gone out of business. Apparently they ran into some trouble.

"Concept" consumer devices = speculative masturbating. I don't care. If I can't buy it, then it doesn't matter, and probably won't ever exist -- at least in my lifetime to matter. (i.e. hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.)

Unfortunately the Motorola software designers tend to create the crappiest user interfaces I've ever had to use ...

I stand corrected on the flashbake. We never thought it made it to store shelves. Thing was great! I'd totally buy one...
