This is so freaking cool. Now they just need to get rid of those pesky beaks and feet.

Hmm... As the article noted this is basically a targeted breeding, a form of GM that has been with us for tens of thousands of years. Can we say knee-jerk reaction?

Hard to say what's more irritating about that post: the smugness or the revealed utter irony impairment.

Yeah, this is not a GM chicken, just a bred chicken that's odd. We're getting closer to shmoos every day.

So was I the only person that thought of Pohl/Kornbluth's "The Space Merchants" when they saw this? Chicken Little indeed!

To hell with the chicken, only breakthroughs that touch the lives of everyday citizens spark my interest. Being that I'm on an all egg diet (all egg, all the time) I demand science pool its energy and resources on the twist-off shell.
Now that's SCIENCE!

Sorry, overreaction to the hyper-agressive - 'Let's Ban Everything GM' crowd. My irony is depleted. Perhaps you were mistaking weary for smug?

Not just EZ-EGGS(tm) that open with a twist, but also a swell prize inside. And get rid of the water content! Hey, whaddya think we've all got faucets for?!
Each EZ-EGG(tm) would hold enough concentrated WHITEY-YOLKUM(sm) for four old-timey eggs.
And they've got to stack/dimensionally space tile, as though Roger Penrose was let loose in the coop.
