It's not really a question of MT vs. Blogger. The cool thing is this will raise the profile of blogging and more people will be publishing online. Sure, 90% will be crap, but 90% of everything is crap (Sturgeon's law). If blogging goes mainstream then it means a bigger market for MT and everyone else.

I suspect there are going to be some rather bitter ex-employees out there...

It's interesting, because the other services that Google provides are mainly informational, i.e. web search, image search, and catalog search, and not intensely interactive. Google News and Google Answers are interactive, but I wouldn't imagine them to be server intensive.

This new "Bloggle" index will be informational, but hosting 1.1 million weblogs is the most interactive endeavor that I have seen Google take on.

I'll stick with Movable Type for now.

Who is going to keep Google honest now? One question they will need to answer up front, given bloggers' fixation on Google Rank, How can I be sure that my blog won't have a higher google rank if I use blogger pro?

This will be fun to watch. I too looked on google news and didn't see anything.

Ha!

Looks like they're working on a Blogdex clone.

Ironically, it hasn't hit Google News' automated pages yet.
