BTW i'm really loving the link that cory's got going with this story - it's so totally obvious but at the same time, kind of stupid..

It ties in with the classic MBA attitude of "I understand money and rates of return and marketing; why do I have to know anything about widgets?"

Keep this in mind when complaining about entertainment execs who don't "get" the web or P2P; at least they "get" their own industry as it exists today, which is a lot better than some of their peers!

Or as a high-school classmate of mine said when we were discussing career directions: "I'm going to be a businessman, because a businessman can hire as many engineers as he needs."

More than you might otherwise think. It's a classic top-down management/funding blunder. "Screw these hippie visionaries, we're going to bring in our own team that's going to kick-ass and turn this ship around..."
Uhuh....

How many companies are led by people who don't really know what they are building?
