The ease of electronic correspondence must have resulted in tremendous volume gains in Wash. Writing a letter, addressing an envelope, stamping and mailing was its own deterrent.

Right, they're probably doing this to reduce the amount of spam and garbage email. We'll probably see more and more people taking similar measures in the future.

I don't see what's wrong with them asking people to use a web page to contact them, there's nothing holy about vanilla email. It's not as though his constituents used to email George Washington and now this hallowed tradition has been put to rest.

This may be accurate, but it is not true. I've used the e-mail forms to send e-mail to my representatives many times. It works. They are not "shutting out" voters by closing e-mail boxes. Here's proof.
