No, it was a phone earpeice, it had the little mike 'bubble' in the line. Maybe he had it hooked up to a radio instead. But I suspect, due to his facial expressions, that he at least *felt* like he was talking to someone. Somewhere.

Perhaps the earpeice was a radio? And he was listening to some sort of DJ chatter or talk radio?

Wow, this in combo with those tiny ear-piece headsets will finally make everyone I see on the street appear to be completely and utterly insane.
Living in S.F. It's always a toss-up now if the person talking with themselves is someone with a earpeice headset or just crazy. And, I swear to god, I think I saw one that was both, for I never saw a phone, just the earpeice, and his 'conversation' lasted the entire bus ride and consisted of nothing but his laughing time to time...
